Correct
Quote: Sheldon "That was under the previous regime, cockle. Fortunately for us our new owner's not talking about taking backward steps.'"
Lets make this simple. AP said your signings would be top class, in the same mould as Ellis. Out of your 3 signings so far, this is only true on one occasion.
Losing Manu and replacing him with Ellis IMO is not a step forward, more of a like for like. Manu has consistantly been your top attacking player and a player teams fear.
Again signing Arundal is more a like for like after losing Turner, but how Arundal goes, nobody is really sure. He looked good in his debut season but has spent the majority of this season injured.
Watts as most of us Rovers fans know he has the potential but as for applying that well, lets just say he has shown very little of it in his last two seasons. An improvement, who knows!
With the rumours surrounding the club regarding players wanting out, the running of the club been a shamble, it could well be a different FC side we see out next season. AP has alot of work to do regarding ingoing and outgoing players, I suppose we will see what true ambition he has in the next signings brought in.

I didn't really see his post as knocking our new signings. I didn't agree with everything he wrote but I can see his reasoning for some of them.

Manu for Ellis = like for like, I laughed that hard when I read that I nearly wet myself and then stopped taking your post seriously.
However, everyone understands that Watts is a gamble, but provided the club have covered the bases with a tight contract, one they can't really lose imo.
With regards to Turner, apart from a 6 week period earlier this season, he has been nothing but average in his time at Hull imo, so Arundal won't exactly have to pull up any trees to be an upgrade.

Got a link for that quote? He said in the Mail that we have two big signings yet to be confirmed. He never compared them or any of the players already signed but not yet named to Gareth Ellis.

Bollox. Ellis is still one of the best back rowers in the world. Manu is a great player and will be sorely missed but no way can you say they are "like for like".

Dont get me wrong, Ellis is a fantastic player, world class but your losing your most consistant player, your star player. Not too easily replaced, absolutley no gaurantee that Ellis is going to come in and perform as well as Manu has for you.

| Turner is very overated. Three good games in three seasons.
Not upset at all at him going.

“For far too long now, Hull FC have been languishing in the lower reaches and with a limit to their ambition and a failure to compete with the big sides.
“Our intention is to have the club back in a position to do that again as soon as possible and the only way we can do that is by investing in the squad and signing players of Gareth’s calibre.”

WTF are you on about? The club are not responsible for rumours, nor are they answerable to them.

That clearly doesn't mean all players we will sign will be of Ellis' standard

Every signing has an element of risk to it. But a comparison between Ellis' and Manu's NRL appearances and International caps has me feeling confident that we have a definite upgrade.

Well with Arundal and Watts falling well short of been in the calibre of Ellis, I'm sure you and the rest of the FC fans will be expecting more huge signings! as is the intent of AP.

| Thing is, it doesn't matter how good or bad these signings are if we don't get the rest of our recruitment and retention correct, so we should really wait until things progress further before we judge things too much.
