Quote: Wilde 3 "How about Adam Maher - i think sometimes the hardmen are the ones were opposition players are intimidated to even try to start something - and after Maher launched about 20 punches into Lomax (Huddersfield) in about 10 seconds I think that definitely helped!'"

Lomax that's who I was trying to recall earlier. Maher was hard but didn't go around bullying people, however as Lomax found out he was no shringking violet either and had clearly seen the inside of a boxing gym in his earlier years.

Was that near the players tunnel at the Boulevard?

I think Maher would have more then held is own with anyone else mentioned in this thread, he just chose to quietly go about his business.

Oh come on,it was never that bad ! It used to be a great pub for bands years ago,IIRC Oasis played there when they were just starting out.
It did deteriorate a bit over the years, bit of a drug dealers and pimps icon_razz.gifIMP: meeting place.
I can honestly say I have never felt intimidated going in there. And I'm only an 11 stone weakling icon_lol.gif

Skerrett and Woods.

Pond for pound I would take Adam MAHER, absolute workhorse tackle machine - they should have made coaching videos.

I actually winced as his fist pounded that Hudds guy - it was like an automatic weapon going off. Probably the only time I have feared for somebodies health over an RL fight ( apart from when several aussies beat up Dannatt ).

Vaguely recall he was a boxer and father was a top pro ?

Find it sad that all the 'biff' is edited off the TV. Thoroughly enjoyed the bust up with Catalans and wanted to see replays about who did what - got no coverage or mention on Boots n all or BBC. We all like the odd dust up NOT the thuggery/cheap shots which used to blight the game.

I'll bet last years Hull/Rovers bust up got more slow mo/ freeze frame than any of the tries ? It did in my house.

Kinda looks as if Woodsy is in a hurry to 'congratulate' Mumby on scoring ?

Woodsy has obviously got the right hook prepared and both knees lined up.

Quote: cod'ead "Trevor never needed to dish it out, he caused plenty of damage with perfectly fair tackles. I recall a cup semi against Cas in the 80s (can't remember which one, there were that many) and James Leuluai had just been clattered by a Cas forward (could've been Beefy). A couple of plays later and Skerret lined him up, when he hit him you could physically hear all the air come rushing out of his lungs. He never bothered having a go again that day.'"

It was an Aussie called Brett Atkins i think, big bearded forward.Skerret had seen enough of him dishing it out and waited for the right opportunity. He lined him up for the tackle and nearly broke him in half.Remember asking Trevor about the tackle a few years later, can't remember it he said all my tackles were like that.

You're getting hardman and cheapshot merchant mixed up again.

As an FC fan a bit embarasing that, Wileman was a good tough player but not in the same league as people mentioned on here, apologies for the Millward hit he was a great player.
