I think what you meant was "that leaves enough time to negotiate a fee with the RFL for the release of McNamara.".

Don`t you think I am depressed enough without this scenario?

Indeed. A few years ago a game at the Galpharm was a "gimme" 2 points. I remember when we beat them in the 2007 play-offs, the first year they'd reached them IIRC. The contrasting fortunes of the clubs since is startling. Good squad balance, decent gameplanning, several quality youngsters coming through, and a stunning play-off win v Warrington. And now for us to get within 10 is seen as a cause for celebration. How did it come to this?

Why all the references to Kath? The Wetherills have a higher combined stake in the club, it's by no means all down to what she wants.

You'd think someone that linked to the club would know that wouldn't you.

I haven't seen anyone celebrating the result at the weekend. I've seen some people suggesting that there was an improvement in the performance but that's about as far as it goes. There's a tendency for hyperbole creeping into discussions of late, as if things weren't bad enough without the need for embellishment.

| From an outsider looking in from Wigan. There are some matters very similar between our two clubs and the periods of decline followed by the decisions taken to turn things around.
We won the CCup in 2002 and were beaten Grand Finalists in 2003. By 2006 we were bottom of the league.
You won the CCup 2005 and beaten Grand Finalists 2006. You haven't won a game and but for clubs going into admin you'd be bottom of the league.
In 2006 Dave Whelan owned the club and Mo Lindsay was Chairman.
They sacked Millward and replaced him with Brian Noble. Noble in turn brought in Fielden and Dobson, Wigan then won 10 out of the last 12 games to finish seventh.
Following a CCup semi defeat Mo said he was resigning therefore Whelan put the club up for sale. It was bought by Ian Lenagan.
After two season with Noble when the team had flatlined as a semi final team. Losing CCup semis and 3 final eliminators Lenagan didn't renew Noble's contract and appointed Michael Mcguire for 2010.
From IL's purchase of the club he emphasised his desire to keep Wigan's younger players, improve their levels if fitness and skills so they would have a better chance of making the first team. He said he'd bought the club to win trophies which he felt it is what Wigan should always be competeing for.
It does appear that you need a first team coach who has the capability to bring in his own fitness and skills coaches. You need to improve your many, many younger players who make it to the first team then don't improve. (The Horne brothers, Hall, Washb'k, Wheeldon, Yeaman, etc)
When it is obvious that you have turned things around then IMO you need perhaps new owners but most certainly a new BOD.
This current BOD have sat and watched your decline and can't bring anything new to the club. It is they who need replacing as much as if not more than your coaching staff.
If it can be turned around at Wigan it can be at Hull. Just as at Wigan though you need new people at the top of the club both at executive and coaching levels.
Hull FC are a great club with great fans and fantastic facilities.
You should be competing at the top not where you are now.
British Rugby League needs a strong Hull FC.
Best of Luck!

Fair enough, and "celebration" was too strong. I was one of those posting the positives after the game, started a thread on the subject, no less. But stepping back, the sentiment is that losing at Huddersfield by 2 scores is OK, fairly creditable in fact.

Feel like crying. Thanks bud, great sentiments and much appreciated. Sadly there's no Lenegan and no Noble, let alone Maguire, for us.

And if there was, our Mo and Whelan aren't showing signs of walking away.

| A dozen games and I think the board will start to have a real think about Agar's future, they have invested in him thus far and won't make a kneejerk decision.

What about if the losing streak kept up though? They wouldn't let him lose another 9 games in a row before they did anything.
