Closer does not equal 'on the verge of breaking into'. Not by a long chalk. We were still miles off the level required to do that.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |

| Quote: UllFC "I still maintain that our best season of the Pearson era was 2012 when Gentle instilled better tactics and motivated a rag tag bunch of Agar signings and fill-in players to a credible top6 finish. What's happened after that has been a series of expensive missteps and the squad is no better.'"
l think our squad is unbalanced. Our most probable biggest earners are all 30 year olds nearing the end of their careers. For me as great as Ellis and Pryce have been they no longer represent value for money and playing wise I'd cut them loose now if that was an option and try and bring in some fresh young blood. Sneyd has also been a big disappointment for me and has probably had more bad games then good.
All Radford is doing is trying to recruit a team of powerful work horses a carbon copy of the successful team he played in all those years ago.
Coaching wise he knows no better not having had a proper coaching education and to appoint an amateur coach at best to recruit and coach a SL side is unforgivable and lacks ambition.
Scraping the 8 is no solace or sure sign of improvement.
We've been beaten by every team below us barring Widnes this season and we are by far the worst team in the super 8 but probably the best of a bad bunch from the middle.
Same old failings with a coach clueless how to put right the continuing wrongs.
Wigan didn't need to work hard for their win. We were embarrassing.
Radford does need to go but I accept he won't.
Regardless of signings can see a lower average gate again next season.

Difficult to argue with any of that.

| Quote: Kosh "We haven't been in that position since well before Pearson bought the club.'"
I said at the point of, we had 2 strong 6th place finishes and with play-off wins and without the extra investment bearing fruit in the academy, with a new coach and without a stable 6/7 partnership, that to me says we were on the verge, I never said anything about actually being in the 4 did I?
Your viewpoint that 6th isn't close 4th is just silly, just a stable/fit set of halves would have pushed us very close to 4th, that's something Radford has had this year and it's got us to 8th from 11th, why couldn't that be applied to 6th to 4th???
It's impossible to say how we would have done last year never mind this if we had continued with Gentle (or anyone other coach than LR) but given a set of halves and 2 more years of the investments/developments in the youth system it's not unthinkable that we could have been pushing closer to 4th than scraping the 8.

Only 2 of the 5 confirmed so it's irrelevant really. Pearson can spend as much as he wants on players but till he invests in a quality coaching team it's money down the drain

Pritchard and Taylor are powerful work horses yes albeit good ones and have we signed the others yet or do you live in cloud cuckoo land and believe all these rumours.
You do really need to give your head a bang at times and come back down to reality.

| So the successful Bradford team were "workhorses". Lol. Think vainikolo, Hape, Paul, Deacon, et al may beg to differ.
This is the slowest back line I have ever seen at the club.

Think you are missing the point and I'm not wanting to derail the thread either.
Paul and deacon aside as we have currently nothing anywhere near that quality. Bradford had a formidable pack and big powerful backs.
See that blueprint being repeated or attempted here?
Due to the coaches lack of ability or knowledge.

I never described them as plodders or bad players but work horses to me are big ,strong and powerful which these fit the bill of not saying there not skillful.
Maybe you should try to understand beforet you fly off on one as always and attack anything and everything you perceive as anti hull as you've become boring and predictable and apart from the nothing comments you make or childish insults you never normally bring anything constructive or interesting to a discussion.
Just my opinion mind.

| Outplayed and outcoached, Wigan throw the ball wide and offloaded at will, each tackle they slowed the play down with 3 men in the tackle and we continued to use two men and let them play the ball fast, couldn't the players see that Thaler was soft around the play of the ball, but we are thick to react.
Any team that has Thomspon and Green at props at the same time deserves to lose, when will he realise to spell his props better.
Harsh reality we deserve to be were we are.
Season pretty much over

You have successfully contradicted your first point regarding "workhorses". Formidable and powerful pack and big powerful backs does not equate to any workhorse analogy. I completely agree that he is looking at the Bradford model, however they also had pace in the backs and craft in the halves, a hooker who was effective in the opposition 25 and internationals throughout the team - not workhorses.
Wonder if he will go the whole hog and insist the fans each wear a sponge finger and learn to play the trumpet. before we know it the half time entertainment involves a guy in a monkey suit riding a quad bike, whilst doing juggling tricks to the tune of wooly bully?
I fear the worst....
