Are you not content that we are 4th in the league and only 2 points behind 3rd spot??
considering we have had to get through a massive injury crisis again aswel, plus the fact we havent played many games with our first choice half backs and what we have had to deal with calders been out for so long, im very happy were we are and i think we can push on now and climb the table even higher.
tbh at the beginning of the season with the new squad we have and players we released id of said we should finish in the top 4,but then when you look back at the previous 2 seasons a top 8 finish would of been classed as a successful season in my opinion, the thing is with hull fans we want immediate success and it isnt going to happen.
also may i add to people who ask the question about what players have improved under agar, heres just a few,tom briscoe current international, richard whiting has improved massively, danny houghton who will be our 1st choice number 9 for many years to come, also we could see tansey pushing for international honours.
cant be that much of a bad coach can he.
but like ive said many times people are entitled to there opinions.

I would love to see Agar prove us all wrong....yes he got the changes right v Sts and the 2nd half was superb......but still think if we had a Maguire,Smith or a Brown...we would be higher and more consistent.'"
OR!!! Are we seeing a little more consistency from the coach of late? Some of the results have been terrible this season; Crusaders and Salford to name just two, but if you look at other teams such as Saints and also Leeds they've had their 'ups and downs' this season as well, all this with so called "quality coaches" I think sometimes we have to face up to the facts that the personnel we have on the pitch at times are not good enough.
Ask any level headed Hull Fc fan what we've needed over the last few years or more and they should reply, "Playmakers"
Playmakers that can control a game and importantly their own team. Imo we have too many headless chickens in our team (runners) and not enough players who can change a game or the even the direction of play instinctively.
Play makers are the energy of a team; directing, controlling and calling plays, vital plays like the last tackle. This is a simple area we’ve been guilty of ignoring in the recent past, and then you look at Friday night’s game where we scored off those plays and start to appreciate this ‘special’ type of player. I watched Longy call the shots on Friday, telling seasoned players like Fitzgibbon and O’Meley etc where to stand and run. If only he was 10 years younger.
Please don’t misconstrue this as pro Agar as he still has a lot to do to win me over in regards of his overall ability, but I will give him the respect he is long overdue for a fantastic win.

Could add Sam Moa to that list.
Jury is still out on Agar though and he has a long way to go to right some wrongs. I really hope he can but am still far from in the Pro-Agar camp.

Ssh you're not allowed to mention injuries, unless it's to say Saints had loads on Friday.

Good post.
I said at the start of the season that I'd consider a top 8 finish excellent progress from the last two seasons and so far we're exceeding my expectations by some margin. I still think that Agar has areas of weakness as a coach but you can't argue with results and he deserves credit just as he gets flak when we fail.
I think we need to put the whole 'Agar out' issue to one side now. It's making this board a joke at times with people looking around for negatives even when we win. There is a difference between realism and unjustified negativity - far too many are unable to make this distinction.

Do you think a comeback win with a late drop goal suddenly means we're a great side and agar is a great coach? They lost their last away game at salford FFS'"
So injuries are an ok excuse for other sides we beat but Agar can't use them when we lose?

| If I may quote from Long`s book,
"Three clubs were after me,Wakefield,Huddersfield and Hull. But of the three Richard Agar the Hull gaffer was most on my wavelength."
Wigan also threw their hat in the ring.
My point is players ,who are the closest to Agar as far as tactics etc go,seem to be all for him as a coach.
As far as I am concerned I can take or leave Agar, but 4th in the table (at the mo) isn`t bad.I would have snatched it last season.

All fair points, much more reasoned than your usual cheerleading . Maybe he'll prove to be not as bad as I believe he is, but the fact remains that there are other coaches out there who would have given us better results if they'd been appointed when Agar was.
