Nonsense. He was junk for Huddersfield last season - so poor that he spent half the season at FB. This signing had 'disaster' written all over it from the start.
We should have kept Dykes playing on one leg.

Could we have got Dykes fit in the off-season?

Think he was due to have surgery which was to rule him out until around now.

Guess that depends on what the medical reports on his knee were like. He'd had the underlying injury for some time and was no spring chicken - maybe the prognosis was that he'd always have issues.

| I couldn't agree more with the op.
Some of the rest on this thread is questionable. But its all opinions and we are all entitled to them. Apart from the expert Rovers fans who know nowt.!!!
We need a full back, who is a specialist.
We need two new centres. Most say 1 but we need competion. Briscoe and 2 others will create that.
Whiting needs to be more central. His reading of a game is probably the best at the club. I appreciate that he needs to prove his fitness, but of all the ones who need to do this at the club he is the one who offers the most.
Horne could be like McGuire with a decent SH. Some claim he does not create but watch McGuire and yo will see similarities. He scores for fun behind Burrows. Horne ith a decent SH would be the same.
The forwards are gone. I would retain Washy, Berro, Maloney, Burnett, Manu and Tickle (just) the rest have had their day and need to be shipped out.
As for the squad
Tony I rate him but can he come back after a bad injury, plus he wants to go home. Grant him his wish.
G Horne . Billy basic
Yeaman .. living off 05 winners medal and a GB cap. Buck up or ship out.
Lee showing signs of improvement and becoming the player we thought he might be, but jury is still out....maybe a year extra.
Houghton will learn fromBerro and Fitz and will / should / could be a international.
Calderwood has impressed me after bing a laughing stock for me and the family through his career.
Raynor, Keep for one more season and make him prove his fitness.
Hall has clearly got some talent. He has also got confidence issues. I would lo for him to be a star at the club, but he may need to go to develop into the player he should be. I can unfortunately see him making that decision with the influence of his father.

Pretty much agree with all of that.
I would be tempted though to leave Horne at fullback, washy at 6 or 13 with Whiting as the other.
Whats a clear point is that we have masses of "cover" in certain positions and none in others. We had 3 hookers on the pitch at the same time last night, and Berro and Tony (hooker) off the pitch.

| Your hookers i.e. Lee and Houghton seem to be doing ok so id suggest the best option at SH would be Berrigan. Hes the only player in your squad with the ability to do the job properly.

Could you please put that in writing to R.Agar .
That is a far too sensible comment .

TBF some of us did back that opinion up, although I personally hoped to be proved wrong and that he'd be OK as a 1 year stop gap signing.
We were better off last year with Dykes playing the occasional game.
