| Hull as far as am aware have top physios. Also I imagine they would take outside advice from top medical people. It's not like Hodgson will say to Connor how is it. The bloke at Asda said you looked ok so your playing Fri.

You have no idea if that's true. Why would they anyway?

You don't know who they are but you know that they're under experienced? And what are "sports injury personnel"?

Our lead physio is Chris John who has worked at top clubs in football, rugby union and rugby league.
He also launched his own company dealing with rehab and recovery from sports injuries.
I think he knows his stuff.

Nah, Bonaire says he should be binned, but if we go down that route, half the team and the coach would be gone. I really don’t understand why Pearson bothers.

To be fair I’m no medical expert but we do seem to have a regular issue with long term injuries and have done for years so certainly think it’s valid to question or look at the medical staff and how we prepare players. Whilst other clubs also suffer it does seem we seem to suffer year in year we can’t just purely be more unlucky.
I did read something a while back which was a study by a leading sports injury doctor who’d noticed an increase in lower leg, foot and ankle injuries. Following his study he’d concluded that whilst some where just unfortunate he believed that many were caused or due to the type of boot worn. He noted that a number of the new lightweight boots worn by players today offered little or no support which put the lower leg at a greater risk of injury. The worst offending boot were the blade type which he noted was the boot worn by almost all players that suffered knee and ankle injuries. Wish I could remember where I’d read it but it was a very interesting read especially as in regards to the subtle differences in stresses between football and rugby in the lower leg yet most of the boots worn today all had similar characteristics almost a one boot fits all.
So there’s a lot of different aspects that can be a cause or increase the risk. Maybe we just have a higher ratio of these things which culminate in more lower leg injuries compared to the law of averages?

Where are the top football clubs and Rugby clubs?
Just wonder if there are any stats available to compare our pre 2018 injuries to what we have now
Profile
Chris John joined the Hull FC backroom staff team as a Physiotherapist at the start of the 2018 season.
His first assignment at the club was on the tour of Australia!
John has previously worked in Rugby Union with Yorkshire Carneigie, and in football with Hull City where he was part time physio for the clubs Academy
He has also spent time with Castleford Tigers and Dewsbury Rams in rugby league in 2012 and 2014 as a student volunteer physio
He was promoted to the title of Senior Physiotherapist in 2020.

Notwithstanding the current unfortunate run I don't believe that we are any worse affected by injuries generally than other clubs. I guess people think that way as obviously we are more focused on our own club than others. Same as people thinking we get penalised more or pick up more suspensions, neither of which stand up to factual analysis.
Your point about modern boots is an interesting one but that affects every club. That sort of point is different to accusing the club of risking players long term fitness by rushing them back too soon.

| I know I say it a lot but we are miles behind the rest of the league, and just elite sport in general, when it comes to strength and conditioning. Fatigue management and recovery are a massive part of this and we just don’t seem to have a clue.

| If Jake plays, which with the amount the social media team are hyping up his return to the squad I assume he will be, we win.

They did something similar with Carlos earlier in the season and then he didn’t play
Hope Jake is back though
