There are no fickle fans as you call them just fans that are fed up and disappointed with the continued turmoil we have found ourselves in over the last 2.5 years.
Not everyone can be the eternal optimist like you and a few others.
And as for an experienced assistant why?
Are you supposed to have an experienced head coach that an assistant learns from not the other way round.

I'm not always upbeat that last night was terrible, but 2 points are all that matters, then consistency/entertaining RL hopefully will come, Cunningham/long, Powell/Orr do ok most of the time.

He meant with half-back/pivot experience. Radford knows all about being a forward but nothing about being a half/pivot.

| Maybe that's why Pearson wanted Cooke at the club?
I know Horney is involved at some level, but he wasn't the organising/scheming type of half back that often make good coaches.

If he were interested I think Cooke would bring something to the table from an attacking structure perspective. Been gone nearly a decade now.

Differance been, if cas results continue in that vein, Powell will get sacked, Radford as got no way near the standards of cas under powell with better resources. And I reckon cas fans have more faith that powell can turn it around. That performance last night, looked like a team not playing for the coach, but doing enough to win the game, after all they're professional sportsman who always want to win

Would be a good signing I think, although there are some on here who wouldn't have him back at any price.

Undoubtedly. In my opinion what's done is done, and letting something that happened almost a decade ago impede progress today is futile. Engaging him as support on the attacking side to work with Sneyd and the young halves would be strengthening the club IMO. Won't happen though.

| I'd take Cooke back as an assistant.
His departure has been done to death but there was fault on both sides. He'd do a good job with the young half backs.
Can't see it happening though.

| Just because it was several years ago, I still don't see why it is now ok for Cooke to come back. Many fans slate Garry Schofield for wanting to join Leeds 30 years ago, but at least we got the world record fee that he was worth at the time. He may have been anti-Hull in the press ever since, but that's only words and they have never hurt the club financially.
Said before, Cooke was at fault and courted his situation. If he was on contract, he robbed the club of a c£100k transfer fee and if he had no contract, he robbed the club of taking the salary that he wasn't entitled to. Can't recall him ever showing any remorse or making an apology, so why should we forgive and forget when he made mugs out of us all?
As a compromise, he can start on Monday, hold a press conference to apologise to the club and all our fans for his past actions. He can then work free of charge for the rest of the season and if he makes a difference, only then offer him a contract from 2017 that he must sign.

By his own admission he was an idiot off the field both whilst at Hull and subsequently at Rovers, burning the candle at both ends. He appears to have matured now, and I'm not certain Hull FC acted perfectly throughout the whole saga. The protagonists at the club at the time have all moved on. Would the club benefit from his input in attack? My thought would be, yes. James Rule made a big song and dance about taking legal action against Cooke, yet we didn't. Perhaps there was a reason for this?

| Cooke had not signed his then new contract although it was agreed by him his agent which was his father Roy, the only thing he did wrong was talk to a another club which he approached before the correct date, he was banned & fined which he served & kr payed, it was just bad as it was them he went to, & we never replaced him, still haven't to this day, he had some awful things said & done to him, the people who did these things are not fans they are total idiots!

Completely accept he may be more maturer now. Also the club should have made sure the contract was signed and that was also inexcusable. Cooke received a ban, but that only affected him and Rovers for several games.
Also agree that his skills and experience could benefit our performance and decision making. However, to me the financial implications of his 'no contract' situation still warrants a gesture from Cooke and an apology and offer of working for free for period of time would allow us to move on from the major blot on what was otherwise s fantastic playing career with Hull.
