Both 20 now, so you would have thought they would have more of an impact, although saying that if you look at Green and Shaul as good examples of players who don't make it straight away and come back at a later age, so maybe there is still time for them to make SL players.

Both in the First team, so wonder if they will promote two other young players to the first team, i'd imagine Brad fash would be one.

I find it strange they are told not to bother training and look elsewhere mid contract. They haven't had any opportunity to perform. They were both stand out players for 19 with Wilson been captain. At 19's they played out of position which didn't help as well. I don't think it's a salary cap issue but it's a strange one. They have talent and I don't think it's a case of others been better. I've heard that both were surprised and shocked at the decision. From a development point I view it's great opportunities for them. They wouldn't play much with first team and would be used every now and again on loan. Something needs looking at for players around this age. Bring back the A team.

Wilson has left Hull and going to Donny. Starling staying at Hull and going to Donny as a dual reg. Will not train or be apart or the Hull yet up I've been told. Both offered to leave but chose different options I believe.

There's a bit about the option of an under-23s/A-team set up in the policy document. I don't think the clubs will be keen, simply due to the costs. You're looking at £200k or more to run a team at that level, based on pretty meagre pay that'd make those players effectively part-time anyway - so maybe they're better off playing in the Championship.
And I don't think the costs would be greatly mitigated by gate receipts - certainly it wouldn't be cost-effective or maybe even practical to open up the KC.

All that said, the leap from 19s to SL is big - some make it, but the proportion that make it to the fringes of SL squads and no further does seem high.

I'd have liked to have seen fewer academies, allowing each to running one extra, older team. With central funding planned of just £168k, and not every club having a stake in the proposed system, that seems unlikely.
And tbh, it's a fair bit of money to maybe only retain the odd player, now and again.

This is maybe were clubs could work together and enter joint under 23/A-teams, Rovers and Hull could enter a team, Leeds/ Bradford etc.

Ok they would be lots of things to be worked out, but there has to be a better system than DR, which just isn't working.

Rovers and Hull did look into some sort of link-up, but there's a natural tension there, of course. Which is made worse by the rivalry and merger-fear. Maybe if you joined up with Cas at that level, us with Wakefield or something like that? But I guess what you'd gain in 'trust', you'd lose on logistics.

The pyramid needs a stronger/wider/better supported base in the community game, then a sharper focus higher up, IMO.

With the talent that there is Hull there should be a semi-professional team in the lower league. Loads at Donny from Hull and a lot of top players that are KR & FC cast offs that are good enough. Anyone fancying chipping in? Haha
