| Quote: Dave K. "Even Radford said at the fans forum that he expects Horne to miss a few games, a lot to do with his illness (diabetes?). Finds it harder than others to recover from knocks.'"
Imagine for a moment we'd signed a player who was injury prone and would miss large chunks of the season, There'd be uproar and, rightly, questions asked about recruitment. We got rid of Dykes and Matt Head because they missed more games than they played. I fully remember the moaning on here at them taking a salary, even though they were the best halfbacks we'd had in years.
I'd sooner give the salary and shirt to a young up and coming player.

YOu have watched Hull for 40 years and you are comparing Horne to Dykes and Head?
He has given all for FC, is probably on a reduced contract because of his situation, and was one of our better performers last year. Firstly, I think your opinion is wrong. Secondly who should take the shirt? He is there to bring our youngsters on who have got shirts!

| Dykes was a fantastic half back when he was able to play. One of the best kicking games and not afraid to take the line on (and no pathetic inside-ball moves).
Yes, he was a better player than Horne.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |

Richard Horne has played nearly 100 league games in the last 5 years. Not a bad average for an "injury prone" rugby league player.
He'd be first on my team sheet every week - but lets see how our two 21 year old halfbacks get on first.

I really don't care about the past. I'd rather see someone who can play 20+ games than one that the coach readily admits will not stay out of the treatment room.

Interesting theory.
So, if you don't judge players on previous performances, and ignore players who might get injured, then who's left to pick?

You seriously want to judge Horne on past performances? For 3 of the last 4 years he's been average. Anyone will tell you that.
I'm absolutely positive that if Horne was from Australia, more people would be saying the same. The fact he's from Hull and therefore untouchable in most peoples eyes, is ridiculous. Seymour was a pretty poor player for us too and he was hounded out.
If I remember correctly, Horne was given a coaching role at the club with the youngsters. He's certainly not worth cap-space.

So you don't pick Richard Horne, even though he was the stand out player last season, until he got a serious foot injury.
And you're now describing him as a pretty poor player? Amazing. You don't like him, do you?

| Stand out player? Really? Not for me he wasn't. Lineham, Whiting or Crooks took that accolade.
A few good games in the last 5 years is not good enough. Yeaman is exactly the same. He's coasted for 3 years now.

Do you actually go to matches?
Why not start hounding Lineham? He's had knee reconstruction, a broken ankle, ankle surgery and wrist surgery in the last 3 years. I've not heard anyone calling him injury prone.

Fool. He's ten times the player Horne is.

Charming.
You've missed the point (again).
Linehams injury record is worse than Horne's over the last few years, but nobody in their right mind would suggest dropping him.
Same applies to Richard Horne, be clearly you know best.

| Rich Horne is a great servant to the club but that he was one of our better players last year whilst on the field regrettably is more to do with the quality of the rest rather than him suddenly improving. Next season is another season on and again whilst you hope that there are more miles left in his legs , he ain't going to be getting quicker or better. Yeaman hasn't been coasting he's been getting older and losing pace as well as injuries catching up on him and compounding that effect. Getting rid of either would though be stupid UNLESS there is a better player available that would come and that would fit into our cap.
