| Quote: east hull FC fan "But it was an error in isolation, Yeaman was outstanding defensively covering Briscoe, and did his work carting the ball out. Nobody wants to praise his pace to get round the outside of his opposite number and make a 50m break, instead slating him for backing that same pace in the next phase.
Yeaman not passing is not a big thing for me, and his winger hasn't really suffered as he's got a better than 1 in 2 ratio as well.
If Yeaman was as greedy and didn't have the conversion rate he does then maybe it would be a problem.'"
Completely agree. Yeaman was excellent and whilst it was a really poor error I think it was a lack of judgment/awareness rather than greed. He backed himself which is something I like players to do but he should have realised he wasn't going to make it and adjust accordingly. Thankfully it didn't cost us but he wasn't the only player to make mistakes. We could and should have won by more.
I have never subscribed to Yeaman being greedy, more a case of lack of confidence or skill in being able to put his winger away but he has got better in recent years.

Wanna bet?

DJ didn't make a [idecision[/i which cost us a try (or points). There is a difference.
And people - myself included - have expressed concern over his goalkicking.

Actually it has been mentioned. It was a nice line and a decent turn of pace. Doesn't change the fact that we didn't score from it purely because of a decision Yeaman made.

He made a mistake, apparently he is gutted about it according to someone who knows him.
He isn't the only one who has made a mistake this season.

One of the most glaring mistakes though. And not his first this season that's cost us tries.
And I'm sure he's not happy with himself over it. Rightly so. How does that change things?
Can't people offer critical opinions of some players now?

He isn't the only player to make more than one mistake. Most players have made costly mistakes, it happens.
Show me where I said that? I have criticised him myself.
I just don't see the need for going overboard and wanting him dropped. He had a good game.

If you read the whole thread very few poster have called for him to be dropped. But his defenders have latched onto those comments and suddenly any criticism whatsoever is taboo. It's not any more helpful than those poster who just slag players off without thinking.
It was a very poor piece of decision making that cost us 6 points. Coupled with his lack of form [iin attack[/i this season it rightly raises the question of whether his place [imight[/i come under pressure once Arundel is fit. That seems to me to be a perfectly reasonable debate to be having and is largely what this thread has been about.

RLFans isn't the only place FC fans give opinions. Twitter, Facebook, at the game. That's what my comments were based on, not one thread. Again....I have not said he should not be criticised, where did I say it was taboo? He has been quiet in attack this season but our left hand side as a whole has been not just him. He has also missed games though injury and it can take time to get form back. He had a good game against Leeds and made a big error, luckily it didn't cost us.
Give me a choice right now between Arundel and Yeaman, it would be Yeaman everytime. His defence is far superior and their attacks are similar.

| Lets be clear now. He did not directly cost any points. Holdsworth or Pitts could have dropped the ball or it could have been intercepted. It was a poor decision but not the worst we've seen. Holdsworths was a far worst offender in that game!!
Nobody deserves to be dropped from that performance!!

I'm not sure that criticism elsewhere - especially on the madhouse that is Twitter - is relevant to the discussion on this thread. Or if it is, then it would be helpful to be clear when referring to it. I naturally assumed that you were talking about the thread we were discussing.
Quote: PAUL M "Again....I have not said he should not be criticised, where did I say it was taboo?'"
I didn't say that you specifically had. But have a read of the thread and see the response of some other posters.

Our left hand side [ihas[/i been quiet generally. And I agree it's not all down to Yeamo. He is [ipart[/i of the problem though. The injury thing is true enough but supposes there was some form before injury to get back to. In attack Yeamo has been pretty ordinary all season.
Quote: PAUL M "Give me a choice right now between Arundel and Yeaman, it would be Yeaman everytime. His defence is far superior and their attacks are similar.'"
I'm happy to leave that decision to Gentle. But I don't think there's quite as much between Arundel's form before his injury and Yeaman's form now as you do. Hence why I said it would be interesting to see what happens once Arundel is fit.
Of course he might come back with the kind of form he showed early season, in which case I wouldn't pick him for a Championship side let alone us. It's perfectly possible that Yeaman will still be our best option at left centre despite his faults.

| A quick question for those who watched it on Sky as my view of the incident on the big screen wasn't brilliant.
When Yeaman blindly lobbed the pass in Pitts' direction did Pitts actually knock it on while trying to gather the ball?
It looked like it came off his knees/ankles to me but as I saw I didn't have the best view.

Of course its relevant it's discussion about FC and players. As a mod on here I find it odd you refer to twitter as a madhouse.
Anyway Arundel was like a turnstile earlier in the season. I like him but he has it all to prove. Yeamans place to lose and if he keeps playing like he did on Friday PG will have an easy decision.
