| Quote: Rock God X "Average to good? He won everything in the game with Bradford, took Wigan from bottom of the table to one game off a grand final, and got a new, unprepared Crusaders team into the top 8. I'd have said that was 'very good', at least.'"
It's funny, isn't it, how people views change as the situation increases in desperateness. When his name was first mooted at the beginning of the season most derided it and said we should be aiming higher, Nobby was "poor" not what we need. Only a World Class coach would do.
Now he's an all-encompassing genius who we must have at all costs before Leeds get their horns in him.
The truth is probably as usual somewhere in the middle. I'm sure Wigan would say he was average compared to McGuire, Crusaders would say good compared to Dixon, and we'd say very good compared to Agar...
Any way, we need him. Now.

I never said that, and I don't recall too many others saying it either. Of course, if 'most' said it, you'll be able to point to several posts containing those sentiments.

I never said that, and I don't recall too many others saying it either. I said he was a 'very good' coach who could get us to the level where we are able to compete with the top teams. I even expressed some reservation as to whether he was the man to lead us to silverware.
Quote: WormInHand "The truth is probably always somewhere in the middle. '"
You don't say? Like I (and several others) have said all along. That you imagined otherwise doesn't change that.
Quote: WormInHand "I'm sure Wigan would say he was average compared to McGuire, Crusaders would say good compared to Dixon, and we'd say very good compared to Agar...'"
Wigan would say average? I don't think so. He laid the groundwork for what McGuire is achieving now. If you don't believe me, ask McGuire. He lead Crusaders to their first ever top 8 finish and they've dropped right back since he left. I think they might just hold him in high regard, too.

Him, or someone like him, yes.

I've changed my avatar back, in full support of this sentiment.

| Quote: RugbyVillasBoy "I've said this a few times on various threads - people have to understand that a board (regardless of business or sport) have to toe a united front regardless of what is going on behind the scenes.
I'm not defending them per ce but just because they're not in the press acknowledging we're rubbish and the coach needs to go doesn't mean hints aren't moving in the background. The trouble is that things don't move as quickly as fans may want because there is generally more to consider than what the public sees.
I run a company and even when things are going bad we tell everyone how good things are or how relatively were beating the curve etc etc because that's what boards do. And when I was previously a senior manager at another firm I had to sack a few people but had to follow process and protocol which took way longer than I wanted but unfortunately had to be done.
Keep the faith, ultimately uncle Kath has a responsibility to to the best for the business and the major repeatable revenue stream is the fans who's numbers dwindle as the team gets worse.'"
There's nothing to stop them coming out and admitting things are unacceptable and need to improve though. It's the fact they're seemingly ignoring it that annoys the fans. Didn't the SKY commentators say that hudgell had written a piece to that effect in the dobbins programme for the leeds match?

I think people are saying that the board would see it as vindication for keeping agar, not that they believe agar should stay just for winning the derby

You think noble would work under agar?

Fair comment, maybe they need to change their spin to keep more fans happy - if that's possible any more. But if Hudge did say those things it doesn't mean they're doing more than our board is behind the scenes to rectify things...however you're completely right at least it gives them some semblance of credibility that they're in step with the fans and that they're all in it together.

I'm not sure about the whole DOR/manager/coach roles/jargon anyway. One man in charge of the team regardless of titles and that's that. If, let's say for arguments sake, Noble came then it would have to be at the expense of Agar, not in 'complimentary' roles either way. Personally I would keep Webster ad assistant and if Rich was to stay it could only be in some sort if development/scout role which he clearly has some talent in.
