| Are you Hull fans aware that Phelps is adequate cover at HB? Nothing special but adequate and he's much better than Tansey at FB.

best bin whiting too then!!
Phelps is a cracking player much much better than most give him credit for , can cover a few sits if needed , speak to any wigan fans they will tell you he is quality and had one unlucky injury
cracking signing and used to a winning mentality in a club he will be a breath of fresh air!!

Are you saying everyone else at the club is a loser?
If phelps is such an outstanding player, why had no one else signed him?

2. Are we a stronger team with Phelps than without him? Undoubtedly.
3. Are we in a better position now than we were last night? Definitely.
Ok so he's not the answer to all our prayers and we do still need a half back but signing Phelps is a good move for which the club should be applauded.'"
Totally agree.

| So weve spent the last two months chasing a player who was never coming only to panic in the last few days and sign Phelps who will miss teh start of the season and probably be unfit too - wtf is wrong with this club, it could of signed this bloke two months ago and had no problems with visas and he could of been training and settled with his new team mates. Bet we now go after moore too to complete the shambles that is Hull FC

| It is obvious, IN MY OPINION, that the club have been trying to bring in the HB cover that they said was their priority. For whatever reasons their efforts have been in vain. Does anyone seriously believe that RA and the board don't want success at the club. The Tansey situation arose due to the player, and they have moved quickly to cover it, because a player was available, and wanted to come. I am sure that their efforts to sort out the HB cover will continue.

| Quote: Jake the Peg "Do you think it's a good use of our final quota space that was freed up when we lost our multiple Oz internationally capped, SOO regular Clive Churchill medal winner?
Have to say I hoped for better but if that's the level of your ambition then I'm guessing betting your house wouldn't liekly result in much of a loss'"
Yes I do because sometimes needs must. The problem with you is you have 20:20 hindsight and you're always prepared to use it. You'll tell us that it was obvious that Berrigan was going and, therefore. that we knew we would have space under the cap. But even if that was the case, the truth is that the market conditions have changed so dramatically regarding overseas players due to the new tax legislation and the changes in the cap downunder that a high profile half-back overseas signing (and certainly in such a short timescale) was never going to be on the cards. . I also wouldn't be surprised if FC have longer-term ambitions for overseas signings that they are probably already committed to so any signing of an overseas player for more than 12 months would simply undermine that. So what did they do, bring in a player picked by a coach who you rate, before being injured, who can play both at full-back and 6 who knows SL. PLUS, to say that Westerman and Sharp are poor recruitment is beyond me. Westerman is a player for the future who is good enough now to do a great job for us and Sharp replaces an injury-prone winger that we sorely needed a replacement for.
I think Agar here (Tansey afair) has really put his balls on the line. He knows that this is a make-or-break season for him but he still had the guts to get rid of Tansey which he knew would be removing one of his key strike players thus making his job even harder. Phelps is not an average player - he is a good player and I am glad we have got him.

At least with moore and phelps in the bag there'll be enough of a saving on salaries to pay westerman's fee

Phelps is a useful off half and if we have injuries to Horne of Long the he will go there with Whiting dropping to full back. We do need cover at hooker though.
