Quote: east hull FC fan "Not really, Turner got concussed, Berro filled in.The rest i'll just file in my "better things to do than respond to that drivel" folder.'"
This game when Berrigan was at centre and Turner on the bench?

Drivel, so you honestley think Berrigan has been a good signing for Hull, he must be the highest paid player at Hull and we aren't getting our moneys worth from him, I would love him to do well at hooker or centre for Hull, but up to now he hasn't be good enough.
With your opinions about him (on your own) you must be a personal friend or family member.

He's twice the Hooker Houghton is.'"
Without having the stats at hand id guess Berrigan would have played more SOO and international games in the centres then at dummy half, I remember him scoring a great long range try in a test at maybe Wigan or Hudds, his strike rate at centre was very good, im sure he scored 20 trys in one season aswell, in my opinion Berro hasnt had the impact for us at dummy half like he did in his last season in the NRL, we could really do with someone with his quality out wide in my opinion.

| Quote: Dave K. "His form apart from the first season has nothing but average, no where near good enough for a player with his experience and wage, if he plays there next season he really needs to step up.
Houghton form improved when he got more minutes and teh starting hooking position, to me it looks like Berrigan was holding him back.
On paper Berrigan maybe a better hooker but he hasn't shown in the last 2 years.
Berrigan also didn't get moved to centre to cover whiting, Whiitng got injured before we started to play Berrigan at centre, he was moved there to replace Turner.'"
Likewise with Richard Horne, we can get a far better player than him for his money!!

Spot on re the tries. IIR he played a lot of his tests off the bench but did play a lot in the centres too. I may be wrong but not sure he ever started at 9 for Oz.

It's worth saying that the Berrigan you speak is not the one playing at Hull now, his pace has dropped dramatically since he came over here and certainly since he played centre for Brisbane/Aus.

Not sure about that. Think he's faster than what he looks. Strong as an ox too. Main advantage for us is his brain as a centre both defensively and attacking wise.

He could not go the full length now, no chance. He is quick over 20 yards and does have strength and a brain, i'd like to see him play centre this season but I am worried about the lack of cover at hooker, don't want Houghton playing too many minutes.

When do our centres see the ball on our own half to go more than 40 metres anyway?
Yes lack of cover at 9 is a concern but not a major worry. As has been said before, if we cant bring a 9 in we need to play Washy there. I'd rather bring a 9 in but if not it's not the end of the world due to Washy's versatility. If we dont use him at 9 i cant see where else we will play him this season.

Washy will either cover hooker from the bench or will be injury cover for the backrow I guess.
Wonder if Brad Drew would be worth a year as cover for 9?

Is he OOC?
If he's OOC i'd bring him in as starting 9 and cover for Long for 12 months.

If you are not part of the solution then you are more likely part of the problem...: |

Dont need a centre who can go 80 metres as much as we need a centre who can releae the pace of Briscoe, Sharp and Lyne much the same as Gidley was never a flyer but turned Gardner into a try scoring machine!

Gary Schofield is doing a very important job for South Africa RL apparently.
