| Whiting has had a good season so far. He's made a few mistakes, but I can't think of a single player (other than maybe Fitz) who has been flawless. All in all, he's done more than enough to justify his selection, and I hope he vindicates the decision with another good performance on Friday.

| Id worry more about why we persist on playing tom on the wing leaving him to be exposed to the barrage of high bombs he will probably get off orford this week, think he is a centre not a winger

Long term i agree he is, think for this season it's a case of needing him to play on the wing due to lack of other options. We just dont use him right. How many passes has he actually had this year? If he scored 2 tries through getting decent ball and then dropped 1 bomb he would be forgiven.

| Quote: knocker norton "Hmmm. I thought Whiting was more beneficial because of the poor form Houghton was showing and we had Hall playing well in his natural centre position. Did Hall deserve replacing from the centre after the Quins game? I dont think he did. My main point was that Tansey should have come back in simply because he is our best number 1 and was in good form before he served his suspension.
The current predicament is simple. Calderwood is back on the right wing and Whiting and Hall are vying for the right centre berth (both are right centres!) so I guess it is a case of who deserves the shirt this week and will they play well enough to keep it.'"
Disagree with that. Hall has looked good there this year, but IMO he's always looked much more at ease at left centre. And still, arguably his finest moment this season came when he switched flanks.

If you are not part of the solution then you are more likely part of the problem...: |

I actually said Hall didnt deserve dropping after the Quins game to accomodate Whiting in the starting 13!
I would like to see Hall cement the starting centre position as much as anyone.

| Everybody seems to be spilt on the Whiting, Hall debate. I still see it as a weak area for us and one I would be looking to strengthen next term but for now I think having the 2 of them fighting for that position can only be a good thing. Whiting gets the nod this week but it is from far a closed book for Hall.

I've said right since pre-season that Hall should be our left centre and to be fair he's looked top drawer at right centre. Knee jerk reaction from Agar that i dont support one bit.'"
I think top drawer is an overstatement. Top drawer should be reserved for the top players. Hall will get more chances, he has been dropped in part because of his poor performance Friday gone but more likely because we have a specialist winger returning. I agree Yeaman hasn't been head and shoulders above either of them but Agar seems to prefer to play his current/former internationals which has some credence.

He's had two games and Whiting has had three, no real difference there. Hall needs a run at centre but selection also goes by what happens in training and none of us on here know how well either of these players are training.

Hally has looked dangerous everytime he gets the ball this season and has a great try to game ratio. That's what i was meaning by top drawer. He is still our main attacking back that can do something special out of nothing. That lack of structure sometimes appears to put fear into Agar.

He hasn't. You're overstating the case somewhat.

Got to disagree, I think Hall is a good player however for me that is as far as it goes, his defence is still suspect and to be special you have to have both offence & defence nailed on..Hall has been given a lot of opportunities the last few years yet it is the same thing that lets him down defence.I am not sure top clubs would trip over themselves to sign Hall, however I think most top teams would offer Whiting a contract due to his range of skills.Between them both Whiting wins hands down.

With no quota places likley to be avaiable I think that will be very hard, our English centres are as good if not better than any other SL club IMO.
Think that is why Wigans are better and stronger etc 4/5 are overseas players.
