| This season we have all been very critical of Agar's interchange policy. I don't remember it being as bad last season or being subject to such criticism. The likes of Dowes, Manu and Burnett were not expected to play for nearly 80 minutes. So what's changed since then? Jon Sharp has arrived.
I can't see the point of sacking Agar now unless we can replace him with someone much better. So far as I know (and someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong) there are no world class coaches available at the moment.
Don't forget that when Alex Ferguson arrived at Man United results were rubbish for the first season. He could easily have been sacked only months into the job. But they stuck with him and look what's happened.
I would give Agar 8 games into next season to get us playing well and tell him now that's how long he's got.

The someone else is brought in and we're told 'its not his team so lets wait till next season'.
Change the facking coach when the season ends, that we he is given time to build a squad and have a full off season with his players!
As for Fergie, he had an idea how to run a football club where as Agar will never ever be a top number 1.

If you are not part of the solution then you are more likely part of the problem...: |

Actually after reading Alex Fergusons autobiography he took over a squad that had a drinking culture and notoriously bad traininers!
Success didnt come straight away either and in 1989 ws on the verge of the sack before an FA Cup run saved him.
I am by no means comparing Richard Agar to Alex Ferguson BTW!

1. What's the point in sacking Agar unless we have identified a likely replacement? That will leave us no better off.
2. Which top coaches are available now/at the end of the season?

No point sacking him now, the season is over.

With an apparent half million under the salary cap , we should bung some of the Academy lads in. THEN we'd see if Agar has the balls to drop the underperformers.

| Quote: PAUL M "So who for next season then?'"
See my comment on the other thread (you might want to move it over actually, as it fits better here)
Quote: PAUL M "That is a very important consideration Paul, we got McRae by accident when he was at a failing Gateshead side, we inherited Kear because of the circumstances, then we brought Sharp in (the one I truly don't know if we just got him too early, or pushed him too early), and then we end up with the "dream ticket" we have now.
So, when was the last coach we had that was truly up to date? Maybe it was Kearney/Swain that ran the show when we were doing well, Berrigan is maybe not the right kind of players to do it, maybe [ithat[/i is why we wanted Crocker, in which case, it's probably why we needed Fitzgibbons, O'Meley and Long, to make up for shortcomings in coaching ability and methods?
And, if that is the case, are we better off brining in players to do the caching, or actual coaches?'"

No we'd just be fretting about who would be the coach next season instead.

Coaches dont have to be available. For example Saints got Potter who was contracted to Catalans, Mcclennan was contracted in NZ, Morgan was contracted to Toulouse, Noble was contracted to Bradford, Tony Smith was contracted to the RFL, Walters at Catalans was contracted to Ipswich Jets in oz (Not that I would want him).
So what is the lure for these coaches?
Surely coaches can see the potential that our club possesses?

IF thats the scenario.
There is likely nobody would be available,at that stage of the season.
Probably use Jon Sharp ,in a caretaker capacity until the end of the season.
So next season, would be written off!! - again!!
The only proven Manager currently available would be Folkes.

Peter Sharp did a very good job with parramatta's youngsters which is probably why we signed him!!!!!
Did we do the right thing in getting rid of him???'"
In hindsight obviously not, and not just becuase we were a better side under him anyways, but the only excuse offered for Agars diabolical performance could have been applied to Peter Sharp and John Kear. Without really being able to back it up with any facts, you could just tell that the man was a dud, he isnt really a character in my opinion, have any real respect or standing in the game for his personal achievements and he didnt he experience of being a head coach at this level. None of the above automatically mean he wasnt the right person for the job, but with all three of them together he shouldnt have been considered for the job.
That said it is not all his fault, the fact that he was appointed in the first place shows the underlying problems at the club, Although you cant take away that the board have done an excellent job off the field, they make shocking decisions reagrding on the field matters such as this and player recruitment. The thing that frustrates me most about Agar is more of a a personal thing, after the last derby last season he made big noises about how different things will be next season, how we will see a different Hull FC and how it would not happen again, now he seems willing to hide behind the poor excuse that he hasnt signed every single player in the squad, and will no doubt spout the same $hite this off season as he did last.
