| Those saying Holdsworth is the worst first choice half back we've had need to get a grip. Yeah, he was poor. And yeah, he's had a few poor games. But he's also been a stand out in many games. It's amazing how fickle our fans are. Earlier in the year we were saying we couldn't win without him, and now he's the worst ever?! Jesus! How many man if the matches did Seymour and Thorman get?
Do I think Holdsworth is good enough to get us into the top four? No, he's too inconsistent. But let's not be over the top.

Exactly what I was thinking! Some fans don't have a clue, they're just looking for a reason to p*ss and moan. It's not constructive or helpful. It's just ridiculous! Shaun McRae's side wasn't boring. And it has nothing to do with the way we're playing now regardless!

He has been standout in a handful of games, poor in others and missing in plenty more

| And as for the comment about professional players should block out the fans, only the very best can completely ignore them. It's called support for a reason. Personally, we don't have a lot of "supporters". We have a lot of people that come and watch so they can moan. Last night must have felt like a home game to Saints. Clapping them after tries. And (embarrassingly) the home team were booed ON to the pitch! I can understand being booed off. You're frustrated at what you've seen. It wasn't good enough and you want the players to know that (I don't agree with clapping an awful performance, it gives the wrong feedback). But booing them ON to the pitch? Why did people bother coming/staying?!
Honestly, if I were a player, I don't think I'd want to play for this club. Why would the best players want to come to a club were its own fans verbally abuse you every time you make a mistake? I used to think our fans were the best and most supportive. Certainly we're in the early 2000s. Personally I think we're some of the worst.

Which probably pegs him up as the best halfback we've had since Cooke left!

| Quote: UllFC "Time for Pearson to act and Gentle to go, or this club faces substantial losses next season from reduced season pass sales.
Atmosphere was as flat as a pancake tonight because even the most blinkered fans have now realised the 'new dawn' has fizzled out and we're heading backwards. Half the crowd was playing about on their phones during the game, to fend of boredom from watching our attacking play...and no doubt many are wondering just why they pay £250+ a year to watch such garbage.
the mood walking out of the ground (for those who could sustain the torture and last til the hooter) was like a funeral procession.
time to get a proper head coach in, not an untried assistant, and time to (yet again) shift some of the average no-hopers in the team.'"
It sounds to me as an outsider that last night was all about avoiding the 'higher risk' involved of another derby match in the play offs

I dont feel you have been so inconsistent, apart from a couple of cracking performances against warrington, and one against cats, rovers and leeds you have been crap all season. Iwould say thats pretty consistent !

| Quote: Diablo1967 "Westerman and Holdsworth are simply not good enough.
Westerman showed promise at Cas but they're hardly a yardstick for success. The only decent player they had was Chase and he was bought in.
Wigan got the better of Salfords half-backs and we got someone who can kick but quite simply, cannot lead a team or unlock a defence in the 20. We have strike players (when fit) who can punish from distance but we're fecking clueless attacking at the line.
Sure, last night we missed Watts, Lynch, Ogre and Ellis - 4 giant players who will hurt. Our forwards couldn't punch a hole through fog last night.
Our passing skills are woeful, we simply can't pass and catch. BASIC rugby league taught at a 6 year old level.
Release Gentle, let Lasty and Radders take command. 2 local lads who will beat some pride into that shambolic set of players.'"
What game were you watching last night? Watts was playing.
And Westerman was easily Hull's best player.

| Can anyone tell me a club whose fans love to make someone a scapegoat like hull fans do. Craig hall, Chris thorman, Brett seymour, richard agar have all been made scapegoats at the club, and currently it seems a race between westerman and holdsworth. Do you "fans" know the object of fans is to support your players and not to get on their case all the time. Richard horne at one stage was thought to be washed up but until his injury had been hulls best player this season.
I know my posts never go down with you hull fans which is ok,but deep down on this subject some of you must know iam right !!

All clubs have them, it's just more prevalent at underperfoming clubs.

The fans are righ to criticise players when they aren't performing.
Richard Horne WAS poor for several seasons after his neck injury and diabetes diagnosis, yes he has come back and surprised many by coming back in to form, but it doesn't disguise the fact he was being picked based on name and not form for several years.
Thorman & Seymour were never good enough to be the quality no7 we needed.
Westerman is an ok player but I find him inconsistent, and he isn't the player we needed to lift us out of the mire for such a big transfer fee (I blame the club and not the player himself for this however) Holdsworth has received praise for some of his displays this season, but again is inconsistent and was shocking at Wembley & last night.
the players are professionals and have to accept that praise and criticism in equal measure. I'm sure they all enjoyed us all singing for 80mins and chanting their names at the CC Semi-Final...and they have to accept they will get criticism on here, on the radio etc when they play badly.

Good post. If it wasn't for us lot paying through the teeth week in week out for the club we love that shower wouldn't get paid.

| Quote: World of Redboy "I'm sorry, but that's just rubbish. There are professional athletes/players. when they're on the pitch the only thing they should be concentrating on is the game they are playing and the same goes for off it as well. If they've got time to be listening and worrying about what the fans are saying whilst on the pitch then they shouldn't be anywhere near the pitch in the first place.'"
This is laughable, you can't just lock yourself in a dark room all week and only come out for games! Even in the games the players are hearing booing and obviously that is going to pressure them! It's not like they can keep away from media, especially when most of them have things like twitter! Players get questioned all the time about rumours so they're going to hear about things such as their fans calling for their coaches head!!

rovers
Must be the water in Hull. Both sets of fans swing from believing their coach and team are world beaters/the worst team on the planet based on a couple of wins or losses. Fact is both are mid table clubs with mediocre coaches and an average set of players
