| Is this all in aid of raising Hull's profile in the attempt to get a World Cup semi-final?
I would love to see the Kiwis play a game in Hull I think they are good box office and a coup for the city but why not play a Hull born team filled with players who played amateur rugby in the Hull leagues during their youth?
Call it a celebration of rugby league in the City of Hull and in New Zealand I couldnt think of better opponents. We could even play a Hull - Rovers Academy derby as a curtain raiser to keep both clubs relativley happy.

Thought that was because he smashed Fitz all over in the play-off win last season

Is that a weird attempt of a apology?
Read the post properly and you won't look 'clueless'.

| Quote: suedehead. "What a miserable bunch of lovers, neither side will amount to much but both teams have great individuals. It needs to happen and the petty, I'm not supporting them is rubbish. It is a great concept no matter who's idea it is. If you were to cut me open I'd have black and white hoops inside. I truely believe a merger is now the way forward a la wests/balmain, st george/ illawarra.'"
Does anyone know how much resistance there was to the mergers in Aus?
I know the Manly/Norths one disbanded and Souths chose to sit the season out, but the others seem to have met with more sucess, surprisingly.
Watching the West Tigers game against NZ Warriors last week, in addition to the people in current West Tigers shirts there were people in old style Balmain Tigers shirts with a 'Go West' banners and people in old style Wests shirts joining in with the chants of 'Tigers' which I couldn't ever see happening over here.
I'm not one of these Rovers supporters who refuse to set foot in KC, and pop along from time to time on a Friday night to see some live rugby, and I always [itry[/i to be honest and say Hull played well if they did.
Yet I can't realistically envisage a merged team. No matter how fair I want to be, wanting FC to lose is just engrained, and I would expect the same the other way round. Chanting any combination of the two names would just be wrong.

| whats the point in a merger, do people really think 1 hull club would be better then either side. as for the concept im in favour of it even though it came from hudgell and would be a great ocasion for rugby league in hull and if both sides make a little bit of money then why not?

| One side in Hull, potential for 25,000 fans per home game. Call them Hull rugby league, the coaching job i think would be a very popular choice for a " top coach ". Top coaches attract top players, the youth set up would be second to none.
The only thing stopping it is the short sightedness off fans who bring up tradition, the only thing both sets of fans have to look forward to is the prospect of beating the other Hull team, is that enough?
Rovers have won nothing for how long? FC failed to build on the success of a cup win and a grand final appearance and have infact gone backwards. I know it won't happen but it should, and im positive that it would in time be a massive success.

Were the two clubs are now would make a merger pointless, it would also take a generation to get the big crowds consistently.

If this was two rival business's in any other walk of life the inferior one selling rubbish from a grotty market stall would soon go out of business leaving the smart, well run superior business to become the only one left in the area.
Not that I would compare Craven park to a grotty market stall

| If we merge, we should take the "Hull" from Hull KR and the "FC" from Hull FC for the club name, we could take the white from their kit and the black from ours, to make the kit and take the "stadium" from Craven Park Stadium and the "KC" from ours to show where we'll play. Job's a good un.

Combined now they don't get 22,000. So you really think with all the hatred a new club would cause with the die hards from both clubs they'd get more?
Go give your head a shake.

Are you for real? I mean, seriously?
Tell you what, why don't we merge all the local teams in RL and turn it into "Super Duper League"?
