And he will live or die by his selections. If the team does not win enough games, and he has had alternative selection options to those he has taken, then he will lose his job. Fairly quickly I should think. If Radford Dowes and Cusack are selected and the team is winning he will have been proven correct in his selections.

What will happen is that injuries will occur (hopefully not to the extent of recently) and most players will get some opportunities. It's a squad game and very few teams will only use 18 or 19 players in a season.
