| I know Rule has said " Agar will still be here next year" but who's to say he'll still be here as HEAD COACH They might drop him back to assistant like warrington and smith
I don't think agar will ever be a good S/L coach just a v.good assistant.
Hull FC should stop buying coach's from the 50% off shelf!! Spend money buy quality!

Its easy saying that but who do you replace them with ? Especially with an injury list like ours ?
I mean lets face it the KC crowd this year ain't exactley being getting behind the team this year so would playing the youngsters really benefit them at the expense of ruining there career before its started ?
I'm just adding an alternative view, all I see is people who are coming up with what to them seems like easy solutions but in fact there is no easy solution to this.
Saying that though Agar has dropped players on occasions this year, whether they have being the right ones to be dropped is a different question.

Agar won't drop back down to assistant.

Maybe, maybe not but the club compounded the problem by taking the easy option of giving Agar the job instead of getting in a top quality proven coach to breath new life into the club and bring in much needed changes.
This I believe is what P Sharp wanted to do but was given little or no backing from the board, hence the appointment of Agar who is simply a yes man to the board.
For this club to move on from this and go forward it needs radical changes in playing staff and the whole of the coaching staff.

| Quote: pmarrow "I know people will probably say its Agars job to motivate the players, its Agars job to prepare them etc. I feel that is balls myself, if a professional athlete can't motivate himself he shouldn't be in the sport. Agar can do as much preparation as he wants but when it comes to kick offs its those players who have to perform.'"
Some of what you said I agree with however that statement is complete gash.
PROFEESSIONALS in ALL walks of life need motivating, sport is as much a mental thing as it is physical. Time & time again over the decades I have watched not only in sport but in the workplace how people are not able to produce their best if they are demotivated and/or don't have things right mentally or are without a leader.
Having participated in team sports (RL & Cricket) & been a manager in a big organisation it is even more important to have it right in a team situation. Ask any sports psychologist and they'll give you the full reasons why.
Teams need leaders as you've already said but Agar is the team leader and quite frankly he hasn't the ability to lead what should be on paper a top 6 SL team.

| This season we have all been very critical of Agar's interchange policy. I don't remember it being as bad last season or being subject to such criticism. The likes of Dowes, Manu and Burnett were not expected to play for nearly 80 minutes. So what's changed since then? Jon Sharp has arrived.
I can't see the point of sacking Agar now unless we can replace him with someone much better. So far as I know (and someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong) there are no world class coaches available at the moment.
Don't forget that when Alex Ferguson arrived at Man United results were rubbish for the first season. He could easily have been sacked only months into the job. But they stuck with him and look what's happened.
I would give Agar 8 games into next season to get us playing well and tell him now that's how long he's got.

The someone else is brought in and we're told 'its not his team so lets wait till next season'.
Change the facking coach when the season ends, that we he is given time to build a squad and have a full off season with his players!
As for Fergie, he had an idea how to run a football club where as Agar will never ever be a top number 1.

If you are not part of the solution then you are more likely part of the problem...: |

Actually after reading Alex Fergusons autobiography he took over a squad that had a drinking culture and notoriously bad traininers!
Success didnt come straight away either and in 1989 ws on the verge of the sack before an FA Cup run saved him.
I am by no means comparing Richard Agar to Alex Ferguson BTW!

1. What's the point in sacking Agar unless we have identified a likely replacement? That will leave us no better off.
2. Which top coaches are available now/at the end of the season?

No point sacking him now, the season is over.

With an apparent half million under the salary cap , we should bung some of the Academy lads in. THEN we'd see if Agar has the balls to drop the underperformers.

| Quote: PAUL M "So who for next season then?'"
See my comment on the other thread (you might want to move it over actually, as it fits better here)
Quote: PAUL M "That is a very important consideration Paul, we got McRae by accident when he was at a failing Gateshead side, we inherited Kear because of the circumstances, then we brought Sharp in (the one I truly don't know if we just got him too early, or pushed him too early), and then we end up with the "dream ticket" we have now.
So, when was the last coach we had that was truly up to date? Maybe it was Kearney/Swain that ran the show when we were doing well, Berrigan is maybe not the right kind of players to do it, maybe [ithat[/i is why we wanted Crocker, in which case, it's probably why we needed Fitzgibbons, O'Meley and Long, to make up for shortcomings in coaching ability and methods?
And, if that is the case, are we better off brining in players to do the caching, or actual coaches?'"

No we'd just be fretting about who would be the coach next season instead.
