Never going to happen with the first team playing about 50 minutes together. It's obviously been planned this way so we can't judge whether it's worked or not until the season starts.

its clear that the club still hasn't got rid of the culture where the players think they are international class players who don't need to bother when playing a 'lesser' side. Last season the team was able to beat Wire away and in the CC Semi, but then go lose to Wakefield at home, draw at Salford etc. Top sides don't have 'off games''"
Wigan got beat at home to Cas last year.

A good bunch of the first team played 40 mins together today and it didn't sound promising, nor did the game against Bradford.

Of course they do.
Wigan lost ten league games last season including to Cas (and us ), in 2012 Leeds lost eleven including tonkings by Wigan, Saints, Warrington, Huddersfield and Wakefield. They also lost to Bradford.

Leeds finished 5th in 2012 though, before their play-off heroics.
fair point on Wigan losing to Cas, but I bet that defeat was met with Wane reading the riot act to the squad and investigating what went wrong in detail, at HullFC the impression you get is that it would have been 'oh well, better luck next week' and off to the pub...followed by some spin being issued to the media.

@James_Smailes: Liam Watts (shin) and Chris Green (ankle) going for scans in injuries. Lee Radford a very angry man right now after that display

@James_Smailes
Radford can be as angry as he likes but he is the coach & he is the one who made the team selection. We lost watts early & then Green later which left a very light & inexperienced pack against a team that wanted it. I accept it was only pre season but surely these are used to get the 18/19man squad on the last game pretty close to what it will be for the opening game of the season. The 2nd half was a farce with only Miller Arundel Shaul playing for most of it what that has done for the young lads in terms of confidence I don't know.
Rankin looks a decent addition but hard to tell where the team are at as there seemed to be no direction from anywhere.
These pre season games wil hardly get the excitement going for the start of the season infact quite the opposite. The only positive for me was it was a good turn out for rich whiting

| If the coach seems so disinterested with pre-season games it's no wonder the players were also.

| Our pre season has been very baffling .
Surely the Academy teams could arrange their own ? Too many young lads who will never make the first given a run out.
Very worried about the new season . Bottom 4 scrap for us , rather than a top 4 fight .
