Didn't a wovers fan claim on here the other day that if Welham carries on tackling like his hit on Lyne he won't be far off an England shirt?

Well, I was referencing this rather inappropriately celebratory comment on a head injury actually:
"Wasn't it their thick and arrogant cabbages who said Welham couldn't tackle...I think when Lynne wakes up and checks his body parts he will disagree Can't wait for HULLKR.TV"

But you're probably right too. Not checked the HDM comments page, but I'm sure there's plenty similar there.

From those freeze-frames it's unclear whether the contact was made by the elbow, upperarm or shoulder, but when I was at the game it just looked like a well-timed hit. I guess it's also worth mentioning that none of the players on the pitch seemed outraged, suggesting that it was a fair enough hit.

The one thing that I didn't like was Welham didn't go over to see if Lyne was okay whilst he was laid out, but I was appalled at the fact that neither the referee nor either assistant checked up on Lyne, even when after the hooter had gone.

did'nt say it was, but people saying it was a cheap shot are making excuses becuase they are bitter about defeat, nothing wrong with it, and lyne will never be a full back as long as i have a hole in my , bet lyne wont even be a hull player in 2 years, kids got pace without doubt, but thats it.

I find it odd that many on here slag a lad off that is excellent in his age group, hence him representing (and gaining the mom in a 4 try performance) England.

Fully agree. The question for me is more whether he's asked to play FB because he thinks he has a better chance of getting some gametime there rather than whether he believes it's ultimately his best position.
