| As a businessman I applaud them for exploiting the revenue streams and creating a successful business.
As a fan I just feel exploited

| Quote: Irregular Hoops "After the recent goings on over on the dark side, it did bring into focus for me what a strong club we are off the field.
Whilst many are still unconvinced about Agar (including me), you have to give credit to the B.O.D. in their support of the coach.
Even though we have had some very poor results over the last couple of years, I can't imagine any of our club officials going into the changing room to tell the players their performances are not good enough. Morgan has one average season & the knives are out from everywhere.
What I think it does do, is give a bad impression of their club to any prospective coach or players.
Contrast that to Hull signing Seymour, after Berrigan recommended the club. I'm sure Fitz will do the same whenever he returns.
Whilst we have our gripes about the club at times, at least we act with dignity, & in a professional way.'"
very good post, i would like the club to either get rid of Agar or possibly better demote him to assistant under a good experienced coach, i believe he has good qualities but not head coach. The BOD have frustrated me for a couple of years now for keeping Agar, but your right Morgan has done wonders over at kr and deserves some loyalty, he has shown that to them by signing his contract, when i am sure he could have moved on.Its obvious grudgell wants to be a dictator there, Cookie,Mason were they Morgans signing's ? going into the dressing room to berate/advise ex state of Origin players is embarrassing. so yes i am frustrated with our club but we do look more professional then krs board. After seeing how Morgans being treated they may struggle to entice top people there. His self promotion (Hudgell) over the last couple of years seems to have gone to his head.

| Quote: Irregular Hoops "Did you not read my original post stating I was unconvinced by Agar?. Try again. This thread is not about Agar.
The fact you think Hudgell is an astute businessman, whilst the rugby club he presides over loses money year on year says it all (what are the accrued losses now?).
Rovers have had more support than anyone over the years (Business Rates written off, CVA, Cheap land deal to build a stadium, cheap loans, lifting of restrictive covenants, new North Stand to be built), but they are still up the creek without a paddle.
Don't let that get in the way of your tiresome agenda though.'"
It's clear you know nothing about business so there's no point in talking to you about it. Hudgell probably makes more money from his legal practice a year than you make in 10 years. He is a very astute business man. His love of rovers has cost him many hundreds of thousands of pounds. You can question the common sense in pumping money in but he's taken them from nowhere to a guaranteed SL licence. He's levereged support from wherever he can. I don't like him but I wish we had someone at our club with his passion.
Anyway, it's tiresome having a discussion with someone who doesn;t elieve we have the right coach but applauds the BOD for not sacking him

Some of us remember the times when we did have a dedicated FC fan in charge of the club. Some of them were successfull business men too, that didn't prevent them from presiding over a loss in fortunes on and off the field.
We also remember one such chairman 'doing a Hudgell' in the dressing room, the reaction from Lee Crooks led directly to him being sold to Leeds

Yeah, I remember them well. The current board have done well off the field but with £3m from SKY/RFL and the council, plus a shiny new stadium and 13000+ fans, it would have been hard not to. Unfortunately the BOD will ultimately be judged by their successes on the field and this is where they don't seem to have a clue

Aren't both clubs spending the full cap?
Both clubs board have made comments about their playing staff, wether it's Hudgell signing Mason or Cooke or Kath scouting for players.
I don't think the board should have anything to do with the playing staff except appoint the coach.

Management by proxy?
I agree that the board should have no say in playing matters but they should certainly be speaking to the players on a regular basis. It's called communication

| What should they talk about?
Maybe to check their welfare but I wouldn't them talking tactics or performance.

| I'm more than happy with the BOD business management and how they generally run the club off field. ATEOTD we are a financially secure club and making a profit year on year. This in the long term has to be a massive benefit to the club and leaves us in a very strong position. We have not seen success on the field in recent years and we can all rattle off the reasons why. Perhaps the BOD want a financially secure club as a priority and are building towards the future and rightly or wrongly are putting this before on field success. I think you need both to be a successful club and without both the club would fail. Brief success on the field followed by crippling debts...no thanks. I want to see success on the field and want Hull FC to be a high rolling top four team competing each year and winning silverware. If this means waiting several seasons before the powers that be make it happen then so be it, I'll bite my tongue. Maybe those several years are over (after the last three!!!) and the signing of a young aussie halfback and some other decent signings are now the BOD's plan to have a tilt at success in the coming season(s).

It's nice you know how much I earn. You never actually answered any of my points about the help Rovers have received in the past, but not to worry. I'll let you go back to turning every thread into an anti Agar one.
