Totally agree. If Cats dont sack him i hope the RFL revoke his registration for bringing the game into disrepute and force cats to sack him.

11526.jpg "Richard Agar, get out of my club!!!"
If only Barbara Windsor was our chairperson...:11526.jpg |

| I remember at the fans forum when agar said something like 'I don't think we would want to sign Greg Bird' insinuating it was because of the troubles he had back in Aus. Then a few months later he signs Reardon!
Says something that the Aus legal system puts him in prison yet in this country it seems as if people just get community service for such crimes

Grabbing someone's arm is somewhat different to glassing them, though.

| Professional sport as a whole seems to exist in some kind of moral vaccuum where people can get away with just about anything because they are who they are. Greg Bird will no doubt find another club if Catalans get rid of him, because that's the way of things in pro sport.

Absolutely agree and Reardon was wholly repentant.
IF Bird does remain a Catalans player (for which I have no problem with per se) the problem could have massive legal ramifications if the UK border agency then let him in to play for Cats away games.

“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club.
Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.

10603.jpg Is it true that Richard Agar's favorite movie of all time is Groundhog Day or does he just generally like the same boring s**t day after day, season after season?:10603.jpg |

| Absolute disgrace that Catalans have said that they would stand by him and actually want him to sign a contract extension. First they are able to sign a player that would not have been able to play for any other super league club because of his visa issues.
And now, after he has actually been convicted of this horrible assault, which would stop him 100% getting a working visa here, they want to offer a new contract. Unbelievable, I am speechless.
The RL really need to stamp this out and put in place a rule that only allows players that would qualify for a BRITISH working visa to play in the competition.

I was on a jury about 10 years ago for a case where a woman had glassed her boyf in a pub in Selby. We found her guilty. It was only in the summing up by the judge that it turned out she had done it to him several times before, they were still together and he kept taking legal action to stop her doing it in the future. Strange thing are people!!

| Sorry but I dont understand why Catalans shouldn't offer him a contract? Isn't that down to them to worry about the problems that may arise?
Just because he has committed a crime which in this case wasn't rugby related doesn't mean he cant be offered a contract, whether the RFL give him a ban is another matter altogether.
He's committed a crime & will serve a sentence for such, that doesn't stop anybody from employing him if they want to once released.
Gareth Raynor got convicted of assault, luckily didn't get a jail sentence but yet we stood by him all the same, where is the difference apart from the visa issue?

It does in this country.
The simple fact is that Bird, now he has been convicted, would not be able to play for any other team in RL, apart from Toulose, see the pattern. He would never be granted a work permit for this country which would allow him to play RL, but he can come here and play every other weekend because he is employed by the frogs. It stinks worse than their garlic breath.

I realise not in the UK which is blindingly obvious but employers in other countries that would allow him entry for employment would be able to employ him if they so wished.
My point quite clearly was nothing to do with him been employed in the UK but in response to those saying he shouldn't be offered a contract by Cats.
If they wish to play him for home games only then isn't that their problem, there are no rules saying that he can't as far as I know and if Cats were to do this I can't see how the RFL have any legal right to stop them.
