| Just dont get the the clamour over womens rugby/football etc
Rugby league and all its history is now behind womens football in this country - is that right? Of course not - no problem with women playing football or rugby but for it to almost be grabbing equal or bigger headlines and support with little or no history is all wrong imo

Your point about history and women playing rugby has validity but not when it comes to women's football which has history reaching back into the 19th century. In the 1920's the FA banned women from using their grounds with the reason that football damaged women's bodies! This ban was not revoked until about 50 years ago.
Good to see in the NRL women joining the senior officiating ranks with currently 2 female refs joining the males for NRL match selection. They are also used as assistant referees.
No idea how female officiating is going in English Rugby League but have yet to see any female there as an assistant referee. Know of one female assistant referee in the Premier League.

This all depends on your view of History, I have a 1980 RLmag that are advertising for women players for Dockers.
Freddie Miller the first woman ref was from Hull supported wrong team though and has had a play about her, but do agree the top of the game have dragged there feet ever since.

Whatever your view of the quality of women's football, I can go on YouTube and find literally dozens of clips of men making equally bad mistakes.

I'll bet you can, but, you won't find any of it on any of the main broadcast TV stations, and that's the point.
In their efforts to be seen as 'All Inclusive' and diverse. The TV companies are falling over themselves to promote very poor standard sports on prime time TV.

They aren't doing it to be "all inclusive." It's not a charity. England v Germany at Wembley is going to get 80,000+. You might not be (and I can't say I am especially) but clearly a lot of people are interested in women's football.
Putting aside any debate about the quality of the product, women's sport is on the rise big time, and it's largely a whole new audience. Rugby League needs to be embracing it and pushing it as best as it can. Otherwise it's just one more area where we are going to fall behind our rivals.

I didn't say people weren't interested. I said the product is of poor quality, but in the interests of diversity, it is receiving the equivalent of positive discrimination, in the way it is being promoted.
I accept that this is the way it is.
RL is already falling behind.

| I suspect one of the main reasons women's sport is currently being heavily promoted is entirely down to money like most things.
Sport is traditionally a male dominated environment which means you can't sell your product, merchandise, advertising space etc to half the population.
It's a way into a largely untapped market at a time when the male market is pretty saturated with events and teams. It's no wonder it's getting heavily promoted if you think of it from that angle.
