| Regarding No. 4 it looked bad and maybe should have been a yellow card.
Watching it back it wasn't a high tackle there was no contact with the head and Shaul had his feet planted so the tackle wasn't in the air. That's why it was deemed to be only a penalty the referee actually said the only problem was timing and a penalty only, this was after advice from the video ref. Shaul was winded but quickly recovered it wasn't a dangerous tackle albeit it was ferocious.
The problem was contact was made before Shaul caught the ball. There was nothing wrong with the tackle itself had it been made a split second after the ball was caught it would have been perfectly legal. Probably should still have been a yellow card but wasn't as bad as it looked.
For me the incident that sent an already bad tempered game into meltdown was when Jake Connor feigned injury and refused to play on after Wheeldon's hand accidently brushed against his face. This was cynical gamesmanship which incensed the Fev players and after that it was a free for all. People say Connor likes to wind people up he certainly does and sometimes these are the results. It's time that an offence of simulation was introduced IMO.

wheeldon swings an arm at connor's head a long time after the game had deteriorated into a headhunting competition. fev obviously came out from the half time break intent on knocking Hull off their stride through rough house tactics. I blame the coach personally.

You watched the Shaul incident back, so I'd suggest you watch this one back too.
Clear contact with the forearm to the back of the head = direct contact with the head and should have been a card. Regardless of Connor's behaviour after.

| Was there a match clock at the ground? I didn't see one from where I was sitting. That plus no big screen for the video ref replays added to the rather bizarre experience of the second half.

Exactly, whilst I can't argue with Faraimos card I have issue with the fact the Wheeldon went in on Connor with a swinging arm and made direct contact with the head.
So why is Wheeldon's a just a penalty if direct contact with the head is a red card? The RFL, Officials & clubs need to sort this out as the game is descending into chaos.
With regards to Talipapas attempted tackle on Shaul, after watching it back the fact Shaul had his arms up to catch the ball actually protected him otherwise contact with head would have been made. I would also say there was a level of intent to clean Shaul out by the player too.

| Whilst not condoning what Connor's actions after, if Connor had been facing in the opposite direction, Wheeldon would have seen red for that tackle as it was similar to Faraimo's. Wheeldon was out of control.
Whilst it was an appalling night's TV, we have to grateful for small mercies; Stuart Cummings wasn't on the commentary team.

FYI - Sky Sports broke the cabling to the scoreboard/clock.

| People are getting binned and even sent off for tackling a prone player after they've released the ball, should be exactly the same rule for hitting a player before he's received it. Talupapa should have seen Red. How you can hit a player, who isn't looking at the traffic ahead of him, 2 seconds before the ball comes anywhere near him and only give away a penalty is beyond me. Regardless of whether he hits his head or not.

Agree to a point Wheeldon should have been penalised at least. Wheeldon played for both our clubs and is not a dirty player it was an accident very obviously.
Connor's behaviour afterwards was quite disgraceful. He very obviously was not hurt and very obviously feigned injury refused to play on and fanned the flames of an already powder keg situation lighting the blue touch paper.
If you and Lee Radford approve of this shame on you.

| Connor doesn't feign injury. He draws the attention of the blind officials to another player making direct contact with the head which with the current interpretation of the rules is a red card. Unfortunately the game is a complete shamble at the minute and the 'crime and punishment' process is nothing more than a lottery. Jake Connor is doing nothing more than playing the game the RFL are creating. I have no issue with it at all from the players perspective. it is the responsibility of the RFL to manage the game, it's laws and how it is officiated. They are failing and the game is suffering.

Agree he isn't a dirty player generally, but he was wound up and "putting himself about".

Diagnosis via the TV. Great stuff.
He may or may not have been hurt, but accusing a player of feigning injury is a good one. If the "flames" can be "fanned" like that perhaps the players should be asking themselves about their own discipline. Chris Hill is another example. Connor wound him up a treat.

Most fans would love Connor on their team, winding up the oppo.

Connor’s a great talent and I think the proportion of his value that comes from being a WUM is pretty small. I think he’s too good for the role people seem keen assign him, as some sort of next generation Ryan Bailey. Though not as precocious, he reminds me a bit of Gary Schofield, in terms of playing style.

I'll take a WUM like Bailey if Connor helps us win grand finals

Absolutely!
However, it’s not a compulsory price and it can be a double-edged sword.
From the player’s perspective, if you’re capable, I imagine being bracketed with the likes of Sinfield, McGuire or Watkins would be more satisfying.
