| Makes it easy for the linesman, ref and VR as he would only have to look if they have touched the line, instead of also looking if tehy have touched the corner flag.
I would think we would follow the NRl and bring in this rule.
It wont make that much different to our game anyway, but will help the officials who need all the help they can get.

| I think it makes sense, if it happened away from the try line you would not be in touch unless your body touched the line or went over it so this just takes the corner flag out of the equation.

| i would say about time too, if a player dives and is mid air he may touch corner flag but he may get the ball down in goal .

| Good decision, especially considering how wide padding on these is nowadays

| Why bother? What's next, you can actually have a foot in the stand and score a try. It's not a problem; why change rules just for the sake of it? Another product of the obsession to give tries.

| It's not a big rule change and one that makes it better for the attacking side. If a player keeps himself within the lines but brushes a corner flag it seems silly that he does not get attributed with a try.

So you think it's ok for a player to not go over the touchline anywhere on the field and be fine but to not go over the touch line at the try line but brush the flag and be in touch?

| Just watched Briscoes disallowed try from Saints game, have a feeling it may have been given under this rule

Noticed that as well, but wouldn't be too sure where TJ's and refs are concerned

did a freeze frame & he deffo touched the flag first, touchie was spot on.
I think it is a sensible rule change, makes it far fairer all round. Hopefully will mean the touchies have one less thing to check for so in non VR games will have better chance of getting decisions right.

not doubting that, just sure he got ball down before foot in touch, so under the new rule they are using in oz it would have been given. (although i still think TJ would disallow at that speed at the main time you will benefit under new rule would be on TV games)

10603.jpg Is it true that Richard Agar's favorite movie of all time is Groundhog Day or does he just generally like the same boring s**t day after day, season after season?:10603.jpg |

Because the existing rule is stupid. If the same rule was applied to the try line that they only apply to corner flags, then try’s could be scored simply by breaking the plain of the line in mid-air as the do in American Football.

| Would like to see us bring this rule in. As many have argued it seems silly that a players body can go over the touch line and release the ball before he steps out into touch and it's play on, yet if they brush the flag post with their arm whilst in the process of scoring they're deemed to be in touch. The current rule is nonsense!!!
Like someone else stated, there have been games where the posts have leant inwards which in effect narrows the playing field at the try line!!
The posts still have a role and should remain however, but this is only for when the ball strikes them, if this happens then the ball should be deemed to have gone dead.
Let's hope the RFL see sense!! (Did I just say that!!???)
