Just wondered which route everyone going in car is taking, I'm tempted with using the A1 but not had much experience using that route, Google says it's the shortest and quickest route. Anyone got any advice.

A1 is shorter and quicker particularly if your travelling east side of London. For North London there's a minor benefit via A1. But for west London I always use M1.
So for for Wembley either can work. Road works tend to have the biggest bearing on travel time.

Going the M1 route and parking at Stanmore or Canons Park tube. From Hull there is little difference (about 20 miles) and I personally prefer the M1 but each to their own.

Check here before setting off to see if there are any last minute disruptions to traffic.

Hull KR Chairman Neil Hudgell, August 26th, 2014 said.. "In fact, the days of us signing any players from across the river are over. Our fans are loyal, passionate and only interested in one club. Taking players from our nearest rivals doesn't fit in with that brief.":8570.jpg

I did wonder if it was a request for recommending washable seat covers.

A1 for us with a refreshment stop at Peterborough. I'm parking at Wembley and I got this from them:

Please be aware that Transport for London are carrying out planned engineering works on the A406 North Circular Road near Neasden Lane (between Aboyne Road and Brook Road).
The eastbound section of the A406 North Circular Road will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes.
● Transport for London has allowed Wembley Stadium to have a dedicated exit lane from Drury Way and Neasden Lane (eastbound) and Great Central Way (westbound) onto the A406 North Circular Road after the Event.
● Warrington Wolves’ vehicles are advised to travel westbound on the A406 North Circular Road after the Event and travel via the A40.
● Hull FC’s vehicles are advised to travel westbound after the Event where possible. If departing eastbound on the A406 North Circular Road, please be aware you may experience some delays. Once passed the engineering works vehicles travelling via the M1 should consider using the alternative routes via the Brent Cross Flyover or via the A41.
● More information can be found at tfl.gov.uk/A406-Neasden or follow @TfLTrafficNews on Twitter.
● Should you require more information from Wembley Stadium, please follow @wembleystadium on Twitter.

M42/M40 for me from where I live. When we play the Lanc teams you do tend to feel a bit outnumbered as a black and white at the services icon_smile.gif

Roadworks around the M18 have gone now. There is a bit a bit later on, but not much.

There was no road works when i was down there yesterday. There is a 50 zone down m1 nr northampton area iirc.

Doesnt take much for the m1 to grind to a halt..the a1 seems to flow nicely

Hmmmm.... there is of course an element of luck in that. I work in Enfield and live in Elloughton, so I spend a lot of time on the A1.... and I've spent many an hour looking at the same patch of grass / fence post / tree.... Two carriage road with no hard shoulder for quite a bit of it.... only takes a caravan losing a tire and the whole thing is closed.

Saying that, I've been stuck plenty of times on the M1 as well.....

Maybe I'm causing the problems! icon_eek.gif Don't worry, I'm driving down tonight, so the road will be reopen by tomorrow. icon_lol.gif

Well as an ex coach driver who traveled down to wembley alot i tried many a method, i have always found the a1 to be the lesser of the 2 evils.

Also worth keeping an eye on google maps for traffic updates,as iff going a1 and you can see brent cross is chocker...its worth coming off just after the tunnel nr hatfield and going across the a414 st albans back on to m1. Usually then your ok from there.
