Huge sympathy for the depth of Brett's depression, which is shocking. It's also the latest of several stories of players struggling with mental health issues, with the people around them being unaware of their extent, so to keep up awareness of the issue is important. The reporting style and timing don't seem to me to be hugely helpful though. Recovery can be a long and fragile process and he's only just started treatment. Whether it will help him to be on the front page of the Sunday Mirror at this stage seems questionable.

to enable him to get a better severance package instead of a
sacking? Not sure how he thought he could drive off the Humber bridge.

He was also heading for the humber bridge when he was caught drinking and driving in New Zealand, and led the police on a chase.
Hate to say it seeing as you're 90% troll and 10% battleship, but I share your opinion on this issue. |
