| Just seen on the sky sports website that zak hardaker has signed a new 5 year deal, i think this about the third or fourth leeds player to be tied down to a 3 or more year deal. But we cant get manu and turner to stay here at all (if rumours are to be believed). So i was just wondered why, is it because leeds have been winning more silverware than us in the past, do they pay more money (cant see that being the case unless dodgy dealings are occurring), is leeds a better place to live and play rugby? Just wondered what your thoughts are and if anybody knew anything. I know we can sign players but they only seem to be 1 or 2 year deals (which is better for the older players) but i think we need younger players tied down to longer deals like we did with briscoe a while back

| Would you rather play for a team who had won 4 of the last 5 superleague titles or a team that has won 1 trophy in 20 years?

Have you been to Leeds to stay over or drink and eat there?
It's a metropolitan city.....It's city centre is continuosly busy with top shops and restaurants.....of course it's a better place to live than Hull imo. (I live btw on the outskirts of Hull).
Players at the end of the day are prostitutes, shown by Manu.
Success breeds success, hopefully we will be on par if not better than Leeds to attract and keep top calibre players in a couple of seasons time.

| I was watching the footy show on sunday and Sterlo said in a game were the salary is so important its ridiculous to sign anyone to a 5 year deal.
I tend to agree with him.

| Speaking as a former Hull resident, Leeds is s great place to live (well most areas) and definitely a step up from Hull.

Was he talking about in SL, the NRL or both?
IMO in SL it makes sense, but I can see why it wouldn't in the NRL - we can't afford to have a 'plenty more where he came from' attitude.

Speaking as a former Leeds resident, I agree!
If it wasn't for the rugby, my family and my childhood friends, I wouldn't have moved back. There's not much going on here unfortunately. Whereas in Leeds, there's loads. And if you can't find anything, there's Cas, Bradford, Huddersfield etc on the doorstep.

| If you consider that most of the players Leeds are signing up on long term deals are either from their youth team or are West Yorks lads, it means those individuals are not having to relocate.
Leeds, like Hull, has its poor areas and its not so poor areas. What makes Leeds a more attactive place to live is its City Centre and the fact that you are a 45 minute drive in all directions from loads of different places such are the transport links.

Exactly. We have to win things before we will tie down a lot of talent on long-term deals. Very rarely do players sign long term for poorer teams.

| As a city Leeds is bigger, more vibrant, interesting and cosmo than Hull with vast amounts of satellite towns around and on the doorstep of the Dales... no one will question that.
However Hull has some well........
more interesting residents ..............................................
Bransholme which leeds hasnt got...............
we got a bridge an a big un too which leeds hasnt got........................
we are greener and more conservative than leeds (I think thats why the fountains are always not working anyway)
we got a marina leeds havent got.. and pretty green water init too.................................
Hull royal infirmary is nice and listed concrete which leeds hasnt got....................
Hessle road is in the doomsday book which leeds hasnt got (or was it marked as first thing hitler was going to blow up i cant remember but it sounded like that)
we got wilf which leeds hasnt got....................................
Viking is better than radio Aire ...........na na ne na na
leeds dont have the white gown and welly gang at lunchtime all over town like we do...................

So if you got offered a better deal than your current employment you would still stay where you are?
Playing is a job, if offered better, off you go.

indeed, and lets be honest, once an overseas player has come and settled then it hardly matters wether you are playing in Salford, St Helens, Huddersfield, Castleford or Hull, it's less than 2 hours from the furthest two points, and as much as there are differences between L**ds and the other towns, there's f'k all to chose between Wigan, Warrington, Bradford and Hull.
Same job, same expectations on more money, most people would go. (other than [isome[/i people from Hull, who seem unprepared to venture out of a HU post code for work)
