"It’s fair to say we will have new attacking, defensive and kicking structures in place, with different structures for each part of the field, too."

Dude, this is Hull FC. Our kicking structure is set in stone - Richard Horne straight to the opposition fullback on the last.

Not much new here, but sounds very upbeat - makes a nice change. icon_biggrin.gif

Be interesting to see if horne is more effective with some decent coaching. Looking back at old dvd's, his kicking was much better around 2005/6. I also think our kickers have suffered due to poor ball from acting half since swain retired

He keeps saying this
Quote: Peter Gentle " I’m very reluctant to move players around and play them out of position. I’d much rather give an opportunity to a young player or another member of the squad who is a specialist in that position.'"

I really hope he sticks to it as it will help us in the long run.

Completely agree on all points - was a criticism of the lack of ideas rather than Horne himself. Also, with Danny Nicklas reportedly the standout in training, and Ellis in the mix, it will be interesting to see whether the competition for places notches him up a gear.

Looking forward to seeing what Seymour has to offer.

Position I'm probably most concerned about in terms of cover is fullback. McKinnon's not got a perfect injury record and AFAIK and from what Gentle's said, presumably the cover is Jack Briscoe? Hopefully it won't happen (obviously), but if the halves are all going well, wonder whether he would use Horne at FB were Mckinnon injured.

The game at York may give us more clues.I wonder if players like Nicklas will play against rovers or the previous day at york?

I would prefer Nicklas to play at york considering he hasn't played for a year.

Spot on. We watched our CC run from 2005 over Christmas and it comes as a surprise just how good his kicking was back then compared to recent seasons. As well as missing Swain I think that the pressure of being the only kicking option may have got to him. Back then he had Cooke and Brough to share the load and keep the opposition guessing.
