2016 The Year of the Airlie Bird -on sale NOW, price £15, BUY THE BOOK RE-LIVE THE DREAM!:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_19461.gif

Its quiet on here so heres something to have a think about.

Friday is without doubt a landmark day in the history of rugby League in Wakefield when the Wildcats fans will await an announcement outside the town hall at 11-00am as to whether Wakey have got outline planning permission for thie new ground adjacent the M62. If they get the green light everything is in place to have a new ground completed by Feb. 2012.

If they don't get it they are sunk, and will I believe be for the chop but all indicators point to them getting the permission granted or at the very least a public enquiry being called for. However I think it will go through so if it does, with Salford starting work on their ground next month, all the funding and permissions in place for Cas's new home with work scheduled to start next feb. and Widnes an automatic to come up as they meet all the criteria needed, who will go down? Because according to the Super League clubs the league will definately stay at 14, and if any club meets the necessary criteria then they must come up, but someone has to drop out, and it has to be in their words of a couple of years ago 'the least equipped club to meet the Franchise requirements set down for Super League membership'. Will in fact a team with a new ground still go down? Discuss icon_smile.gif

Never mind the bollox, bring on the rugby::d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_41353.jpg

i can still see the league been extended to up to 16 teams,to allow widnes and i more to be promoted, and also to help certain other clubs from going to the wall!!! i know they are saying 14,but i reckon there could be a change of heart.

Still looks like a race between Cas and Wakey to me (yes, I know) - feb is late for starting when the decision will have to be made in late summer, I'd have thought. Looks more likely that a team without a new (and complete) stadium will stay in than one with having to miss out. Hopefully it all pans out though. The wild card could be one of them doing a Saints and spending a year elsewhere to buy the time they need to top off. Wakefield have look at playing at Barnsley, iirc.

Have widnes def been told they are getting a place? When would that be from? If they have then surely it will be swap for them and Cas or Wakey, whoever can secure new stadium first.

Bring back promotion and relegation that is what i say, but thats another whole can of worms.

Yes, A lot of FC fans would like Rovers dropped. After all it would be far less embarrassing than having to explain their slide to becoming Hulls second best team!

Cas and wakey should merge.

I'm not sure about widnes, to close to Warrington and Wigan.

Hkr would do well relocating/merging with Sheffield.

I do not think that having a new stadium being built or being given planning permission will make any diffference. As far as I understand the rules of the game, they are judged early next year and they can only include what is in place then. I mean how can they mark an unbuilt stadium or gauge crowd size in relation to capacity. The Saints one might be interesting, what do you use Knowsley rd for this season or the Stobart stadium they will use next ?

If you use the SL formula and mark all the points off correctly and honestly you end up with one club clearly at the bottom. Now bringing one up also has its own set of problems with contending clubs each with there own merits and using the very same SL tick list it also point to one club.

This is the rugby league we are talking about here and unless some one throws themselves out by going bust, then is Wakey for down and Widnes coming up.
