When the KC was first suggested didn't KR get an option to move in as well, I thought they had?
Whilst I can see an element of a point to their observations, I can't see how any right minded individual can think it's a responsibility of the Council, with finances as they are, to invest in Craven Park?

| Think the Council has done plenty for Rovers. They gave them the old Craven Park -And Rovers decided to sell it - so the Council then give them the current land the Craven Park sits on for next to nothing on a 99 year lease.

I wish the Rovers fans would make their mind up. I thought we were just tennants etc etc? Now all of a sudden weve been given massive handouts yadda yadda yadda. If anything Rovers have had far more help from the council than we have. How about these "East Hull Crusaders" actually start looking a bit closer to home and ask Hudge why Rovers isn't being run as a sustainable business rather than asking for yet more handouts.

| It is a multi-purpose stadium the council built to accomodate the citys sporting clubs. If one decides to opt out that's up to them, the council has done it's bit.
I don't see how they could justify the spend, no matter how little.

While your club have been very good on the pitch, you are a laughing stock off it.

Wouldn't have been bothered in the slightest so long it was a superb venue (which it is) and it would have been closer to home for me.

True but then dont bleat about it afterwards.
The stadium was built for the whole of the city to use for a variety of events. I fail to see how all of a sudden the fact we pay (yes thats right we have to pay) to use the stadium means the council are giving us something for free.

and that is what makes the HDM article laughable, they do not state that the Council run the stadium (via the SMC) as a revenue generator, I'd love to know what the contribution to the council coffers has been, especially compared to what Rovers have paid for Craven Park.

Didn't Rovers originate in West Hull?
Think you played at 4/5 West Hull locations before a 3 year stint at the Boulevard. Infact, wasn't Rovers formed by a load of Hessle Rd boiler makers?

| wow this is embarrassing
1. The council gave them a new ground when the sold the old caravan park and lifted sporting covenants to allow them to sell areas of the ground to commercial business when times were hard.
2. The dobbins were offered to share the KC stadium, as for the location 2 out of the 3 clubs are based in the west of the city already and not wanting to derail this thread but given the choice where would you like to take away supporters to show the best Hull has to offer west or east Hull?
3. If the 10,000 people who signed the petition turned up every week, the average attendance would be well over 12,000 and money would not be such an issue.
Rovers will be fine for their franchise this time round but in another 3 or 6 years I think they may be scratching around a little.

| Your first post was spot on, Digby. HKR have had numerous handouts over the years with the sale of the old CP and being given the school field at way, way below market value being the most glaring. The fans should be asking what happened to all the money from the financial wheeling and dealing on that occasion.
If they can get 10,000 signatures on a petition why can they not get 10,000 fans?
About £50 million of central government money has been pumped (or dumped into the east around Preston Road that is without local redevelopement money and the will be getting quite a lot from the Building Schools for the Future pot.
Have you seen the Freedom Centre with all its computers etc. etc. and free events etc. etc. How much money do they want?

Spot on Martin, As I see it the Council cannot invest in Caravan Park because the public do not own it, Councils cannot invest public money in private enterprise when it comes to improving a companies ability to make more money for themselves. Its no good looking at the KC they had there chance as you said, its a different situation altogether because the SMC pay the Council income from their profits on running the place, which is in the end owned by the Council. I would have moved into the KC if I had been them, but they chose not too! With the Council having to save £80 in three years its hardly a priority is it?
