| Surprised he didn't email back and say he agreed with you and wished they'd never extended his contract.
Next time, save yourself teh bother and just start banging your head against a brick wall

hardly a surprising response from him, as jake says you're better off banging your head against the wall. It must be bad for his soul though having to constantly tell lies in order to keep his job!

| What really annoys me about the contract extension is that it was way too early. If any fan had used the first few games of the season as a basis for sacking the coach Rule would have basically told us we are mad and the coach needs time etc. How on earth the board thought Agar had done enough by that point to warrant the extension I have no idea. All this talk of signing up players etc is bollox as well, if that was a consideration he should have been given the extension pre-season as a decision can not be made on those relatively few games so they might as well have made the decision pre-season.
Its not as if Agar is regarded as a catch it terms of his coaching ability so if he did accept the England job it would be easy to replace to his standard and not difficult to recruit to a much higher standard. Agar has had plenty of time at the club and supposedly cleared out the deadwood/trouble makers and yet we still see the same unacceptable performances. He is still making the same mistakes and his blind devotion to "senior" players is pathetic and shows he doesn't have the mental toughness needed to make the big decisions that are vital for a head coach to make.

| Hull have backed Agar in terms of his recruitment policy and his contract. They have taken the view that he will produce the goods if given the right kind of backing. This will also be partly down to the Franchise situation and the fact that teams are looking more longer term than just having quick fixes. I personally would not have extended his contract and looked to bring in a fresh team at the end of the season. The thing is he is our coach and he and the players need our support, right now we are doing it tough with our injuries and some of his decisions and tactics (or lack of) are very frustrating but constantly calling for the blokes head is a waste of time.
If we don't finish in the 8 then I would say he will get the bullet regardless of his contract and deservedly so but right now we are still in the hunt for the top 6 so lets see where we end up rather than having kneejerk reactions to every game we play whether it's a win or a loss.
Wigan have looked poor in the last two seasons at this stage yet both times came within a whisker of the GF, we are capable of getting better and maybe we will or maybe we won't. Either way Agar is going nowhere until at least the end of the season.

In which case the sanity of James and the board should be questionned.

Sensible indeed and not wasted, just some of us have differing views and are fed up of giving a very average coach chance after chance to prove his averageness. I'm fed up of hearing his excuses about it not been his team, injuries, poor performances etc etc.
Ultimately as our head coach the buck has to stop with him as it has previous head coaches and we've looked nothing short of ordinary with Agar in charge performance wise. I could take getting beat with a patched up side out there if we put in the effort and enthusiasm as shown through our defensive linespeed and winning the wrestle but we dont get that. We get half ars*d performances because our head coach does not have a clue how to built a team or coach the technical aspects of the game.

ha a sensible reply and i agree with alot of your point as im sure the previous poster does too. I just dont think we have a god given right to be a top 4 team and to improve so rapidly after the past few seasons.
Attacking wise for me this year we have made alot of progress (not in all games) and our defence and line defence has worked hard (once again not in all games). I dont mind losing thats not the problem, for me its the effort and commitment that dissapoints me and in the manner that we lose. In edinburgh i was so dissapointed at the way they turned up and just went through their motions.
Finishing 8th-6th for me as i said at the start of the season would be an improvement and a step forward to our tagets and goals
