Has been fantastic imo considering how much we've underacheived in both years. I don't think we've had a gate under 10k all season which is an incredible achievement considering how things have panned out. After last season I don't think anyone expected record pass sales and I'm pretty sure we'll top that again next year. Away from home our support has been excellent as always.

It just makes you wonder how many we could average with a successful side that's challenging the top 4? (next year hopefully) Easily 14-15k imo.

I'm not going if we're successful, I couldn't handle the excitement.

Sacking agar would instantly put 2000 on the gate

All that's happened this year is that all the closet masochists have been able to come out in public without being noticed amongst all of the regular supporters. If FC start doing well the gates will drop off.

Small clubs = Small crowds

I was at CP and the south terrace was full so that figure is bollox. As for Wigan, I don't think anyone expected us to travel over there in our droves considering the season we've had and the obvious difficulties of getting over there on a friday night, etc. Barring those two games (and salford) I don't think theres been an away game where we've taken less than 1000 fans, which imo is excellent support, good season or bad.

Though perhaps those teams don't have to give away 5000 tickets.

Perhaps also these teams haven't had 15-20 years of dominance in the city in the late-80's, 90's, and much of 2000's, thus meaning they have to work much harder to draw more fans in?

I'd say it's mostly down to the recession (if you look at SL stats, very few clubs' averages will have improved on last year).
