| According to the rugby league annual
Johnny Whiteley- "Mr.Hull" Johnny led the "Airle Birds" twice at wembley and played 417 games for the club.
Tommy Harris- welsh hooker bat the Boulevard throughout the 1950's, an all time great.
Clive Sullivan- Much admired world cup captain, scored a record 250 tries for Hull.
Steve Norton- Signed from Castleford and was the creative genius in the triumphs of the late 1970's/ early '80s.
Mick Crane- One of hulls favourite local boys, broke all the rules on fitness, but a natural footballer who played 324 Hull games.

Saw them all play and agree with the names listed but there is one player missing - Peter Stirling - was the list restricted to British players ?

I guess it depends if you mean Hull's greatest ever players or the best you've personally seen play.
For the former it would be hard to argue with Batten, Whiteley, Sullivan, Norton, Oliver. Then there's Harris and Keegan.
Personally I'd go for Norton, Sterling, Kemble, Schofield and Jason Smith.

Can't really pass comment on Whiteley or Harris as they were abit before my time although i've no doubt they are Hull FC greats. My personal favourite has to be Knocker. You could have taken someone with absolutely no knowledge of the game to see FC play and asked them to pick out the best player on the pitch and 99% of them would have gone for Knocker...the other 1% weren't paying attention. If i could have one player from our rich and varied history i'd go for him.
I must admit that i had my doubts when we signed Toppo as i thought he was past his best but how wrong was i, it was an honour to see him play.

agree, but dont forget with the 5 yard rule it was less about power and more about skill to create a gap in the defence. todays 10 metres has meant less need for this type of skill when power will do.
bit sad though, i used to like the skills of a half back barely 10 stone wet through
