To add insult to injury (excuse the pun) I'm convinced Briscoe wasn't fit.

Not so. Could have had Calderwood on the wing with Yeaman and Briscoe on the bench (seeing that it was his first game for 4 months) and no G Horne. When Yeaman was injured Briscoe could have gone on on his place at centre.

Of course but a little subtle for Bighead.

Would play Calderwood at prop it it meant Horne was nowhere near the team.

What decent knowledgable coach would play a player whose been out injured for months in the starting line, give them a run out yes, but ease them back into the game gradually, instead of leaving out a fit player to accomodate one back from injury.

maybe he was resting him in a game you were likely to lose so you could make a final push for 10th spot
