Er, because he's a centre?

"Hall is the first to admit he is a centre and not a winger. He is equally frank with his aim to play his way into the right centre position. But it is a desire to play for Hull that is driving him and he admits, he'll do whatever job he is asked.

He added: "Everyone knows I am not the classiest winger and I want to be at centre."

Another insightful article from the HDM icon_lol.gif

Although TBF I quite liked this bit:
"From a positional point of view the role is a bit different. I have to talk with Jordan Tansey a lot, but he is good at organising our defence." which I read as Jordan Tansey's always bossing me and Briscoe about. icon_biggrin.gif

Maybe wrong but I thought I read Tansey was a captain in the England squad, maybe a leader in the making then icon_biggrin.gif

No I think it was Turner icon_surprised.gifops: who I am on about

Clearly another boring day in the HDM office...again!!

Reckon he'll move on next season as I don't ever see him being our long term 1st choice at centre. No doubt yeaman will get a new contract and he and briscoe will be centres for teh next 3 to 4 years.

I think you maybe right, he is having difficulty establishing a permanent position, tbf to him he deserves to be playing in the centre spot week in and week out, it is the only way he will totally develop all the aspects of his game, he has the potential to be a star.

Shame he hasn't been playing there consistently for the last 2 or 3 years. He isn't being given the chance to develop IMO and maybe it would be best for him as a player to go somewhere he can be centre week in, week out. Shame, as I think it's a lost opportunity for HUll to have one of the best British centre patrnerships in the game for some time

Agree, however I don't believe it is too late for him to develop into one of the best, I think it is a confidence factor with him, it has not helped that we have messed him around with his positions, I am sure he will come good however I doubt it will be with FC.

Spot on.

Briscoe and Hall could be one of the most exciting centre pairings Hull have had in donkeys, but all the time Yeamans around it won't be happening. Hall seems to be the odd man out which i find astonishing and a shame, but Hulls possible loss will without a doubt be someone elses gain.

Hall is best centre in the city imho.

Offensively I agree, however I still believe it is defence which is still an area of development and fails him, I think Brisc & Yeamo offer a more rounded package.

I don't agree.

Yeamans positioning at times is shocking for someone who has played in the position regularly for as long as he has. Briscoe has hardly played centre at SL level so defensively he is difficult to assess although he seems to have far more to offer offensively than Yeaman.

I don't get all the hype surrounding Hall. He has the potential to be a good player - though this potential has yet to be realised on a regular basis - but I just can't see that he'll be a 'star', an 'international', 'the best centre in the city' etc etc. I just think he'll be a decent, middle of the road, SL centre.

Lets be honest all those who hoped he was going to be like his father, he is too light for todays and is not quick enough of the mark and over a long distance to be a winger, he proved his weakness in defence last year at fullback and lack of out and out speed at Saints this year. I think time to give other youngsters a chance, next season.

The independent test of whether Hall has the potential most on here think he has will be how many clubs (other than Rovers) try and tap him up before the end of the season. Would Leeds/Saints/Wigan/Hudds/Catalans/Bradford for example be in for him? He's played 50 SL games now and is in his 4th season.

FWIW the OP was about the HDM stating the bleeding obvious (Hall, a centre, wants to play centre, because he's a centre). icon_smile.gif

For the amount of tries hes scored in the amount of games hes played, in a poor team (most of the time) he must be doing something right.
Defensive is something that can be worked on and IMO I would be gutted if we let him go.
I do get the impression he is made out to be a scapegoat a lot of the time, by the fans and coaching staff.
I don't think he has done anything wrong in the two games this season and yet people want him dropped so Calderwood can come back in.
Calderwood may be an out and out winger, but what happened to the old adage 'your place in the side to lose' icon_rolleyes.gif

Hall and Yeaman should be our centres but Whiting has been excellent in the first two games so can't be dropped really. Too early for Briscoe in the centres imo.
