| A lot of the talk at this time of year tends to revolve around new signings and how they'll do next year.
For me the most exciting signings we've made for next year are those of Lancaster, Abdul, Logan, Fash and Turgut.
It proves that there is now a clear pathway for our young players to the first team.
Add those to the likes of Shaul, Bowden, Hadley, Tyson-Wilsons and Green and we look to be building a really strong foundation.
Some teams will be happy to push the quotas and pack their teams with overseas players, but I'm happy with the policy the club now seems to be following.
We now have a group of players that can develop together, and hopefully follow the blueprint of Leeds and Wigan.

I agree with you, but our kids (like it or not) are just not (yet) in the same class as your Leeds and Wigans. We need to play the long game of 10 years to reap the rewards. Positive start though, and I personally like it.

I agree that we'll need to play the long game to get a consistent flow, but that bunch of what were technically u17's this year are the best in the country at their age and have been for years. They finished in the top half and competed in the playoffs against teams that were predominantly 2-3 years older than them this year. If we don't see 7 or 8 become top SL players over the next few years I'd be massively surprised.
As for signings, I'm looking forward to seeing Naughton. Bulls fans speak very highly of his skills and it will be good for Shaul to have someone applying pressure on him.

| Same as 1865 , Naughton looks like an exciting player to watch , FC aside , Looking how Sims at Wire goes & Kelly at KR .

| I have a good feeling for naughton. His highlights are very impressive. What I've read heard n seen I think shaul could have a job on to keep his spot!
Away from us Todd Carney when cats are at home on dry pitches n his big pack are rolling forward I can easily imagine is gonna be unplayable.
Kelly potentially could be exciting too but how much he plays n how fast he adapts to SL might mean it may be yr 2 before super league sees his best.

| Sneyd and Pryce. Your halfbacks have been pretty much rubbish for years. I think they'll do alright. Taylor will be a good signing if he comes in to provide a timely boost.
You've got 7 overseas players as things stand, I think. I know Feka is exempt and Miller will be off when a settlement is reached, but I don't see much to distinguish Hull's approach from most others. And there are good reasons for that in fairness.

All men are created equal, some work harder in preseason.

| Hoping Michaels impresses, like the look of him. Really hope Sneyd goes well but it seems some have him nailed on as scapegoat already.

| I hope that Sneyd proves all the doubters wrong , without doubt he has talent and cannot understand why others think because he had a couple of poor games he is a poor signing , he was not on his own in playing poorly at Wembley. Clark and others had a shocker as well. Pryce though lacking the pace he once had still as a fantastic rugby brain and gives us something we have lacked for years.I think we have a far better balanced squad and with plenty of competition for places its looking good. Repeating what's been said already the emergence of some really great young players is great for the Club and more already making great strides. I would like to see Rankin given same role as Heremaia he would give us that extra pace and go forward like Clark did at Cas.

Michaels was a really top class winger, with pace to burn. If he's the same player he was before `disappearing' he'll be a top addition.
Where does this centre /winger business come from? He's an out & out winger. I don't watch the Titans much but the only time
I've seen him at centre in first grade was in an emergency, - he`was' a far better winger than Talanoa though, - interesting times?

Michaels played in the backrow the last couple of games for the Titans, so maybe he has bulked up a bit and could play centre.
With reagrds Sneyd I think the critism towards him is unfiar (mainly by Cas fans after he signed for us), it has been stated that he was poor after he signed for us, this is rubbish the game after he signed for us, he had a stormer against Widnes, played well in the semi final (A big game surley?), against Leeds away and was the main reason they got a point against us at the KC. He was poor in the CC final, but as stated above wasn't the only one and again didn't finish the season well (but again, not many Cas players did and its hard to play behind a beaten pack). He has only played one full season, the rest of the time at Salford he played the odd game and he was moved about at Salford, he has all the raw skill and think he will imrpve again next year, playing with Pryce will help as he is a talker and very experiened, miles better player than Finn.
Not sure about Rankin at hooker, does he have the defensive skills to play there? I see him as halfback or maybe centre.

| with bin mans side step and pace or lack of for a winger, maybe he may move to centre. if we didn't have so many 2nd rowers id have even been tempted to try him there...the new manu.
mini cheddar will be a class act on the opposite side to ellis, both with be able to organise the defence around them. with pryce coming in, I think that will take the pressure of snyed slightly, having the experience head with him(like at cas) Micheals looks (from what ive seen of him) like a pacey customer, and getting through gaps making breaks, hopefully that's what we get from him. naughton will be there as cover and to put pressure on shaul and the other wingers and centres.
time will tell how the signing will pan out, still feel like we (hull fc) haven't made all our signings yet, if we have, again I think we have that something missing

If rankin were to go into hooker, I reckon it would be like a azza effect, quick speed around the play the ball, but could also jump in the halves. rankin to centre was what I spoke about with a mate of mine last season, would be interesting move. extra ball handler on the field and pace to burn...love his little springbok skip and how he pulls players out the defensive line.
big fan of rankin

Well, lets hope so as this could be the core of a team for years to come. The potential is there, and there is no doubting that.

| So Rankin started as a full back, then a make shift off half and now some see him as a hooker or want to see him at hooker?
