DESCRIPTION
If you're from Hull you're either black and white or red and white. No ifs, no buts. Judas is the story of Paul Cooke, a gifted rugby league player who enjoyed glory at Hull FC on the west side of the city's rugby league divide - but caused outrage when he walked out of the club to join bitter rivals Hull Kingston Rovers. Magical on the pitch, Cooke was often in trouble off it.
Growing up he loved Hull Kingston Rovers, but joined rivals Hull FC. His career flourished, but in 2007, Cooke walked out over a contract dispute. He made the switch to hated rivals Rovers; and became an instant target for abuse. His time in East Hull was dogged with more controversy, and while there were good times, he moved on to Wakefield before eventually turning his back on the game, to spend his time with his mother who had been diagnosed with cancer.
After she sadly passed away, Cooke returned to rugby a changed man, to finish his playing career and embark on a new path in coaching. Brutally honest and self-critical, Cooke tells the painful truth in this book, alongside some glorious memories of sporting brilliance. It's the story of the player called 'Judas', Hull's most-hated rugby league son.'"
will anyone be buying a copy of his book out on 3rd october

| Yes.
John Kear's book gave an interesting insight on how Uncle Kath liked to run things. Will be interesting to read Mr Cooke's views.

| yes, hopefully it will shed some more light on the events post 2006, when we looked as if we had the keys to the door of the big four building, but subsequently found they didn't fit

| I'll be buying it, as he was with us for such an exciting period with the KC move, cup final win, sudden departure of Kear, Grand Final then near implosion that it's taken us years to recover from.

| Bits of it will be quite interesting reading, but I certainly won't be buying a copy and lining the blokes pockets.

| Its interesting, from a marketing perspective, that it seems to be being sold as the story of a Hull FC player gone astray, with little focus on the potential Rovers audience. From the choice of title, picture, co-author and the blurb, it looks much more like one for you than for us.
Tbf, he spent the large majority of his career with Hull, and you are a bigger market, so it does make sense. On the other hand, I guess there's still a few black and whites who might be curious, but won't want to be lining his pockets, on principle - see above.
i dare say I'll pick up a copy and have flick through, all the same, but the eagerness of my anticipation has diminished over the years. From a selfish POV, it is 5 or 6 years late. While time can give better perspective, the Rovers-centric bits won't be as compelling as they might have been back then.

| In reality it will be must read in many ways! I'll be getting a copy, then I'll be immediately donating it to a charity shop, which might just make me feel a bit better.

| I wonder if he will mention training with Bransholme .
Pete stated he was :
James Rules in shock revelation about Paul Cooke!!!!!
By heck that had me worried a bit when I saw it, although deep down, (having repeated the fact here at least a dozen times over the months) I knew that the unthinkable would never happen, but when you see it in print, you just can’t open the internet page quickly enough, as the hairs on the back of your neck start to stand up!
Personally, I never thought that our Chief Executive would come out with it, because when I tried to raise the subject with him a few weeks ago he became a bit agitated to say the least and refused point blank to comment, saying he was fed up of denying it. The fact is the mischief makers, and who knows that may even include Judas himself, have been spreading the poison in an attempt to not only wind us lot up, but to also destabilise our club. I have as a fan of the FC, no sympathy for the man whatsoever. Never forget how you felt when he tried to make fools of us all, never forget that ego, that press conference, that radio jamboree and particularly that smug smirk after he kicked that goal at the KC. I won’t I’m afraid.
I like to think that now I’m getting on a bit I have a modicum of humanity, but sadly for me it’s very much a case of how are the mighty fallen, and I say that I have little sympathy for Cooke, because quite frankly when he left us high and dry half way through the season, he had little sympathy for me!!!
The fact is that the club have been receiving two or three enquiries a day from concerned fans saying that the word is on the street that he is to return. Some had in fact threatened to not get their season passes simply because of these rumours. I know he will never come back, although I still maintain that not everyone at the club has always been as dismissive as Ruley on him returning, but now we have a final and official line of the club, and boy do I agree with it! Well done to James Rule I say, and let that be an end to it.
I am fed up of people coming up to me at the Gym, in the pub and in Morrison’s telling me that I had better get used to the fact that he was on his way back, because they had heard from his family, (or whoever) he had signed a contract etc!!! You know what it’s like because we all know that unfortunately one day one of these rumours that fly round about our club, will be true. So you do wonder a bit don’t you? Now thank goodness the head of our administration has made it crystal clear what the clubs stance is on the subject, and it’s worth repeating too.
‘Paul Cooke has no future at Hull FC, has not signed a contract nor will he ever be offered one at this club’ I think that’s pretty final don’t you?
I hope that the folks who advised him and encouraged him to chase the golden goose, and those who manipulated the situation in the Media, are happy now! To me it looks very much like his career is wrecked, and it’s hard to have a lot of sympathy. It was the best news of the week for this fan who will always support anyone who pulls on the famous black and white, but who will never suffer or tolerate anyone that purposely publically ridicules his club. So York are after him now....... wow! How are the mighty fallen eh! You’ve made your bed Cookie and now you will have to lay in it! He’s reported to be training with Bransholme; I don’t know whether that is true or not, but if he is no doubt it will have been his ‘Childhood ambition’ to play for them.
