No one has said we've been at cap this year.

In the past we have had no reason no to believe Rule and looking at the ins and outs it looks like we probably were at full cap last year.

We've got £56,380 left on this years cap

That should cover Gleeson's bar tab

The signing of Gleeson proves beyond doubt that it's always best to leave a little bit of float in the cap for unforeseen circumstances/opportunities. I'm not saying it should be a huge amount but starting the season 50-60K below the limit isn't such a bad thing IMO. The players that you might want to sign aren't always available when you would want/expect and this gives some leeway as has been shown. It's also a bit of a non argument really as the club are clearly willing to spend to the maximum otherwise they wouldn't have signed him - nothing wrong with not spending to the maximum for the sake of it.

Droolers thinks that 'spending at or near cap' means having zero pounds left at all times regardless of circumstances.

From what i gather. As Gleeson wasn't sacked from Wigan, he got the rest of his contract paid off by Wigan until the end of the season.

So we've signed him on £40,000 until the end of the season then matching his Wigan contract of £120,000 for next season.

We wont be paying that, £70k tops, the NRL stuff was smoke and mirrors, his other option was franchiseless Wakefield.

Agree, he would not be our highest paid player, would he?

Hmmm, this is Hull FC we are talking about, so who knows.

I just hope there aren't any other "conditions" attached, like Long getting another year etc. But then that is just a by-product of how sceptical I am of Hull FC in recent times.
