| This is in no way a trolling post.
This is a constant subject on most of there boards so in all honestly what would you rather have.
A profittable club that seems from the outside to go 'cheap' on the top guy almost everytime or a club living above their means but bringing a certain amount of success (Warrington, Wigan, Hudds, Saints) etc,etc
Also would you give up your 'A' classification if it meant you were better on the field.
BTW those wanting to turn this into a bun fight please don't bother im actually curious to see what you guys think on this subject.
My opinion is that there is obvious pros and cons for both arguements but it depends if you look long term or shorter term.

A profitable club is important (see Wakeys board), I fear a few will follow over the next few years.
My only complaint with our club is that we should be investing in a new coach, every other aspect of our club is excellent.

| Imo in no way would it cost us our grade 'A' the problem is simple.. we have a pretty damn good squad of players already at the club and the only thing missing is A DECENT COACH!!!... 'ya pay pennies, ya get monkeys'.. and a clueless one at that.
But yes, if it was at the cost of the 'A' license to see entertaining rugby then so be it.. after all that is what we pay to see..

It's not an either/or question - we should be able to do both. We make a small profit while spending at or near cap, so paying a decent wage for a decent coach shouldn't be an issue.

| you cant really go wrong having a top class coach ,they arent cheap but overall they bring with them success which puts bums on seats which equals pounds,so its quite simple and why should a club as big as hull settle for second best.we are paying top dollar so we want top players and coaches.the board can cream of us speccies but it wont last.

It is what would you rather have in a hypothetical situation.

We don't have anyone willing to bankroll losses and allow the club to trade insolvently. The problem with the current regime is not that they do everything on the cheap, otherwise we wouldn't be spending near the full cap, it's the obsession with cheap coaches. Most fans care only about on the pitch, and quite rightly so. But I would rather hear that we're breaking even than a worrying statement that the club is a viable entity only as long as the current board are in place. The frustration is the golden opportunity to do both is being squandered. FC's infrastructure provides a great platform which the board seem unwilling to leverage on the field.

| So basically Mrs B you would rather have money in the bank and do totally cr@p on the field, makes sense i suppose and all the while rule and hetherington are laughing as its they're pockets that are been lined, saints are in a far worse situation than most clubs, yet they will go hell for leather to get the best for they're fans. If the team plays well and continues to improve then the fans come, if the clubs continues to be poor fans aint gonna carry on going and wasting money, bit of a vicious circle wudn't you say..............

I'd rather have both.
It's a false choice. Not sure what you're trying to achieve TBH.

| Id rather be skint but play good rugby ala Saints than make money and be gash on the field. You dont support a club so it makes a nice profit, but you do so to see it win and you should always strive to improve and not sit back or even go backwards which is whats happening at Hull FC at the moment. Tbh the club is a total joke and an embarrassment to me.

| We should be able to have both, use the money we were prepared to spend on Chase/ Sammut and use it on a top coach.

Given what happened with Lloyd back in the 90's and Wakey last week, and Crusaders last year, not to mention Portsmouth etc its important to have a sound financial base, its not a one or the other situation, nor should it be. As Kosh has said its quite possible and should be desireable to have both (see Leeds for an example)

Short term - Win Silverware (possibly, Obviously that plan didn't help Wakey or Crusaders)
Long Term - Possibly don't have a club. (See Wakey & Crusaders)
Is it really a hard question to answer?
