He played at Hooker when Samoa beat England last year. Could be a good signing if he fits in. Happy with that.

Another good signing for me potentially better than Clifford at time of signing, who Smith can make something of in back and white, he impressed in the World Cup too but I'd have liked more than a year deal as we could well get excited about him before he's off again. A familiar story really.

I agree that just a year is disappointing, but it does give us time to find his replacement (unless there's an option in his deal for an extension).

Happy with this signing however as previously started a bit worrying it’s only a year without any mention of a further year in either’s favour. Hopefully more to do with his injuries and a chance for him to earn a longer deal.

I mentioned in a previous post that NRL seem happy for injury prone players to come to Super League to prove their fitness, Clifford is a case in point. Hoy hasn’t done it yet, hamstrings?
Maybe the fact he’s signed for a year, means Clifford’s coming back. Stranger things have happened.
