| anybody else absolutely fed up with sneyds kick off/restarts?
same kick off everytime going to the same player, do we not have any other player who can kick off, maybe vary it, a long grubber, high like pat richards?
last night every kick landed safely in browns arms

| I mentioned this after the Cas game on Twitter and tagged Sneyd in it - he liked the post - cocky git! haha
James Wilde @Wilde_3 · Feb 25
Might go take a chair, sit on the 10metre line and wait till next week for @sneyd23's kick offs! Same every time, not enough height/length
A kick off can be used as a chance to apply pressure, and we just don't do that

exactly, look at richards' kick offs, plenty of height and length to allow the forwards to challeng or force an error from the team receiving the ball
every game its the same

| I mentioned this last year as well. Whilst I agree that in isolation kick offs aren't one of the key issues, I think they are symptomatic of our total lack of creative thought and imagination. We are utterly brain dead when it comes to creativity and thinking outside the box.

Someone ought to dust down an old VT of Steve Evans in the 80's with his quick 10m kick offs and chase. It was only used occasionally, normally when chasing a game, but at least it was different, innovative and kept the opposition on their toes. When successful it provided an instant attacking position.
If called correctly, even if the ball is not recovered, a good chase would result in a field position not too disimilar to what returned from our current kick off routine.

| Forgive me joining in on your board but I've always thought kick offs should be aimed at the posts just to create an element of doubt in the catchers mind.

| Aren't our kick offs much the same as the rest of SL? We stack up defence on the side we're kicking to and the only aim is to restrict the ground the opposition makes. Not really a biggie in the grand scheme of things

| Agree with Jake, much bigger things to worry about, our defence in the oppositions half is good and teams generally struggle to make yards against us, unfortunately we tend to kind silly penalties away and once the teams get near our line we just seem to crumble.
I would go so far as to say that our defence this season on our line is as bad as I remember it.

| Whilst their are indeed much bigger things to worry about it's all about marginal gains. All the small things add up to a lot.
Drilling the ball to try force a drop out is done by Brough I think, Paul Cooke once drilled a kick off deliberately at a Hull player on the 10m line from a restart at MM and got the ball back.
Kicking it away from the ball handler and big prop or at least mixing it up should be the bare minimum.
It's lazy what Sneyd does and has all the signs of another aspect of what we don't do as a club...getting the basics right and/or improving on them.

| Although we are all saying that we have 'bigger issues,' yes, i do agree but..... surely this just further highlights our lack of imagination and variety which translate to our in-play sets.

| Biggest problem is we kick off too much. Defence has been pathetic at times this year and that's why I question the attitude of some players.

Completely agree with everyone saying that there's bigger issues and concerns but I also agree with FC_exile's thoughts here.

| In all honesty its not a big issue. But it is symptomatic of how the game is in general for me. A coach sets a pattern of play, which just about mirrors what the other 11 coaches in the legue set their teams out to do and it comes down to the ones who get momentum and think and act quicker.
Very few teams play whats in front of them now, meaning off the cuff creative flair players are stiffled and forced out of the game.
Kick offs are all the same at all clubs. The only variation comes with a short kick off when a side is chasing a game. Richards just has a gift of being able to get a ball far higher than the rest of the kickers in the league.

Summed up nicely.
