Hull FC head coach Lee Radford could hand Super League debuts to Masimbaashe Matongo and Ross Osborne against Wigan Warriors on Friday night.

The duo have been included in Radford’s squad, which includes only 18 players, alongside academy players Jansin Turgut, Jack Downs, Brad Fash, Jack Logan and Jordan Abdull as the injury-hit Black and Whites travel to the DW Stadium.

Radford is missing twelve first-team players for the Super8s fixture, with Joe Westerman, Steve Michaels and Josh Bowden all picking up season-ending injuries in Sunday’s defeat to Warrington Wolves.

They join captain Gareth Ellis, Richard Whiting, Leon Pryce, Fetuli Talanoa, Setaimata Sa, Kirk Yeaman, Chris Green, Jordan Thompson and Callum Lancaster on the side-lines.

The depleted squad to make the trip to Lancashire is one of the youngest ever named by Hull FC in the Super League era with an average age of 21.

Great recognition for Matongo & Osbourne, especially for Masi who's only been playing RL for a few years or so. Plays big minutes too.

They won't let anyone down.

I'm happy with that. They get experience and the result will only matter to the teams confidence, not for progression.

Good luck to the new guys. Matongo is a strong, hard runner of the ball. You won't get many offloads, but oh boy, he can run it hard.

I also like Osbourn, big strong lad, but needs to work on his fitness.

Should Matongo & Osborne play, does that make 5 academy debuts this year (along with Fash, Downs & Turgut?)

this season is pretty much over for us so this is almost good news regarding the fact that more academy players are gonna get much needed game time. Gonna be tough but our fans need to recognise the problem is out of any ones hands and back the lads as well as I know us fans can

seen Mantonga play a couple of times for the u21s, what i like about him is that he seems to make very few errors and makes metres

What kind of props are Matonga and Osborne? Impact, mobile, offloaders?

Masi is a strong, hard runner, usually takes 3 or 4 to stop and doesn't get put backwards much, has a little turn of pace too.

Ross is a tall lad, similar to the Watts type, has an offload too and knows his way to the try line
