| SEEMS THAT WE DO HAVE THE PLAYERS TO COMPETE BUT NOW LACK A COACH WITH ANY REAL GAME PLAN. TOO MANY TIMES THIS SEASSON WE HAVE GONE THROUGH PHASES WHERE WE LACK ANY REAL DIRECTION OR GAME PLAN, I KNOW WE HAVE CHANGED COACHES LIKE BUSES BUT YET AGAIN WE HAVE ONE WHO DOES NOT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT TO DO WHEN THINGS DO NOT GO HIS WAY, LAST NIGHT WE WENT TO WIDE TO QUICK THEN GAVE UP ON THIS TO TRY AND TOUGH IT OUT, NO REAL KICKING GAME OR PLAN B . WE ALSO DROP OUR BEST KICKER BECAUSE HE HAD ONE POOR GAME AN PUT IN PLACE TWO PLAYERS WHO HAVE NO SPEED AN ONE WHO IS SO NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY FOR US. GET HIM BACK PUT ON THE WING . STICK WITH THE HAVLES AND GET A COACH WITH MORE IDEAS.

| All about opinions but I find nearly all of the above tripe!
Coach cannot once players take the field account for them being dumb, not know when to kick or set for it, for players giving pens on 5th tackles etc etc Bearingin mind our attack has been massively improved this year you can put last night down to a few things. Get a centre back on the wing. That's worked out well recently hasn't it-NOT.
Also wasn't 1 bad game. Several, costly ones. Needed time out i think.we have 2 other wingers injured as well
You say no kicking game. How do you propose to magic one up?
Until the coach can get his own players to do and be able to do what he wants he won't be going anywhere. So I'd get used to it!

| There were two glaring coaching errors for me last night. The first was not picking Heremaia, but once the game is underway there's nothing he can do there. The one he could and should have changed was that Westerman spent far too long running out wide. I know a lot of people have criticised the halves but they were given no time on the ball. This was down to a combination of the forwards being below par, the skinny 10, rovers enthusiasm, and poor passing by Houghton.
Westerman has been at his best this year when he positions himself in the middle of the pitch, runs to the line, commits a few defenders, and ships it out, this gives the halves space to do what they want to do. The only time we did this Rankin scored. Then for some reason he reverted back to his role under Gentle.

Agree with all that. Most last week were warning that to drop Heremaia was a mistake. Regardless of his slight dip in form, the effect it was always going to have on Houghton was the red flag that everyone but Radford seemed spot. Crazy to voluntarily change the structure that was so comprehensive against Hudds the week before.
That said, the pack let him down last night. A nervous return for Paea? Carvs feeling the effect after his first game since a lengthy injury? Who knows, but Radders will have done. His call. Thank goodness I'm the not the only one who didn't think the halves had a chance last night. I don't blame them and hope they still pair up on Monday.
The Westerman thing is baffling. Was it a tactic just for this match? Surely not. There's a lot of thickness displayed by Hull often. Last night's targetting of Cockayne (what's his beef with Rankin, btw?) instead of capitalising on Caro's revealing display of unconfidence another example last night.

I agree with every word of that.

| I didn't spot any change in tactics re Westerman. We didn't cope with the rush defence and our props weren't strong enough to put that defence under pressure.

| Rovers wanted it more, the best team won.
As said no Azza was a mistake but overall I don't think we were that bad. We went 20 - 10 down and CP was buzzing, could have being very easy for the team to drop off and get tonked. They didn't as that is not the standards we are trying to set at Hull and the players are buying into it, which you have to credit Radford for.
I do think we have another couple of gears in us, so its disappointing we didn't reach them heights but that's derby day footy for you.

| I said before the game that the lack of a recognised goal kicker could be significant. Not having a dig at Whiting. I'd have expected a regular kicker to have slotted the conversion from Rankins try.

| Radford was always going to struggle in the first season and he won't get two.
But having an unused sub against widnes dropping heremaia to make room for Horne then putting Miller back on the naughty step after 60 minutes.
All heads towards a coach who is out his depth, panics then has scape goats.
Not his fault can't blame him for taking the job but he needs to start looking in the mirror now.

Miller was not taking hold of the game, so he put Horne on nothing wrong with that tactic, that is plain to see.

Miller is a young lad who's a confidence player probably needs an arm around him type coach, he knows that Horne is ahead of him.
So once he knew Horne was on the bench I believe it would have effected his confidence and made over think everything.
H/b need time to gell either give them time or pay them off if AP is willing to sign the cheque.

Pivots pull the strings in games & ours last night didnt look like they could pull the chain after a crap...it needed addressing & horney came on and did a few neat kicks & created a try to pull us back in the match..watch the game again miller crabs the line till a defender comes sniffing then offloads out of his ..he got hadley killed a few times also how many tackles did he miss? hes professional isnt he knowing horne was on the bench should have spared him on let alone the crowd & game.. horneys pressence could have been putting pressure on any of our backs & houghton given this weeks training slot for him. your good enough your old enough.
