| Does anyone else think hull should have taken the several chances they had to take two points in a tight game like that instead of trying to run it? I obviously do and think it might have made the difference.

Hull had 8 kickable penalties?

Hull had 3 kickable penalties before it got too desperate.

I think that they didn't take them due to lack of possession and field position. Probably the right decision at the time.

| It's what Wigan did. They led one try to nil until the last minute.

| Sorry but kicking a penalty when you're scoreless and 8 or 10 points down is virtually an admission that you'd be happy not to get nilled

Well I think they should be happy not to get nilled, I just think one two or three penalties before half time would have made a diff in a tight game like that, why did wigan go for a drop goal at that stage, cos it was a tight game with two strong defences.

| I would have taken the two when the kick off went dead.
For me the whole not taking the two showed our lack of leadership on the field it could have been 6-6 and who knows how Wigan would have handled the pressure .
Sinfield would have kicked at every opportunity and it just keeps the scoreboard ticking over.

| We should have taken the two, especially just before half time. We were loasing 6-0 having not played well and I was sure we would pick up in the second half, so 6-2 at Half time would have half time would read OK.
Also, it was obvious that it was going to be a low scoring match, so it was worth ticking the scorebaord over to keep in the game and then one try could have made the difference.
As it was, by teh time it got to 8-0 and 10-0, it wasn't worth taking the two. Wigan had a cushiona and it allowed them to not force the play, but stick safely to a game plan.

| The conditions dictated the day. We should have taken the two every time. As stated keep the score board ticking over. 6-2 6-4 6-6 etc would have changed the pies mindset. We were always likely to knock on in the conditions, though maybe not as often as we did.
History shows you take your two in tight games. Remember Sir Kevin in 2003 against the Bulls. Blew it big time. They have regretted it ever since and learnt from it.
However bad we played on Saturday it came down to small percentages. If we had taken a few kicks & Shaul had run right and not left we may well have all been still. And that's after a poor performance. Live and learn. That big game experience for you. It's worth noting I guess that our leader with experience Ellis was off the field for most of first half when that kick could have been taken. Hey ho move on. So long as they learn.

At 10 points down I would agree. At 8 points down it puts you only one score away from being level.
Think back to the '82 final first half. Lloyd kept us in the game with 3 goals. Think back to the '84 Yorks cup final. Crookes went for goal when we were 12 - 0 down.

You could say the opposite. We had an easy kick at 8-0 down.Taking this gift 2 before half time would have sent the message we wernt panicking and had belief still. Instead the more we went on trying to get a try the more we did panic and make errors. Why did Wigan take 2 at 6-0 and 8-0 then ? An admission they couldn't get through us ? Sign of weakness ? Of course not.Neither kick made it a 2 score or 3 score lead in effect changing the scoreboard but in the bigger picture they realised how important those freebies were.Plus you get the ball back anyway and posession was something we badly lacked.Should have taken 2 at least twice.

Spot on. It was all about game management and we got it very wrong. Wigan just applied a little more pressure with every point scored and each repeat set gained.
