| I have been a critic of his like every other fc fan but cant help feeling sorry for the guy he hasn't really been given a string of games with holdsworth to see how they go. he got one game against Leeds and was not our worse player on the night if anything he played ok but slipped off a few tackles in last 15 minutes he's lost his place to Horney and fair play he's keeping him out of the team at the moment but why we would not play him when holdsworth or Horne get injured is beyond me.
you cant be that rubbish if you have played in nrl in that position granted he's no benji Marshall but he has had good games for us in the past and if were paying his big wages then for me he needs to have a run of 4 or 5 games with dj to see if they can get a partnership going if not then send him packing.
I saw him today in Hessle coming out of the weir bar with his toothpick getting into his 1950's bmw looking miserable as sin they must be a player in him some where.
id like to hear your views on where you think he stands at the club and if he has a part to play in this season and next?

| Given Gentle's answers to questions about him, it's not a decision made on how well he does defensively or how steady he is in attack. It seems to be that he is unable to implement the style of play or structure Gentle wants, and he feels Horne & Holdsworth are better at that task.
I've defended Seymour, and think he's been criticised unfairly. But Gentle sees him day in day out at training, if he's not up to the job then there's little else you can do.

| Does anyone know if his contract was a straight 3 yr deal or a 2 with a 3rd yr option?Just wondering if his 3rd yr was maybe appearance related, and maybe the easiest way for us to release him? I do actually feel for the bloke, especially if he is training hard and wanting to play..

| I'm happy that Gentle is ruthless. people should earn their shirt on performances not on the size of their contract

The only real problem I have is going with Heremaia instead when one of Horne/Holdsworth are out. He is clearly no better and I don't see that he offers any other style of play or structure either, so if we're going to freeze out Seymour it should at least be to give Nicklas a chance rather than another tried and failed option which also weakens hooker into the bargain. If it happens again I'll start to be concerned about Gentle's judgment.

Doubt we've got enough cap space to pay him off and accommodate another scrum half.

I thought Nicklas was on loan, so not an option? Agree about Heremaia, not sure I'd question Gentle quite so early. Heremaia played behind a beaten pack last Saturday, ironically as Seymour did.

| if he's not in gentle's plans i think we should be focusing on one of the youngsters in his position and building them up so if the worst happens and we get the injuries in the halves we have nicklas to step up or another youngster if they is one

Surely we must have some sort of recall clause? Otherwise what's the point of a 1 year contract & farming him out for the entire length of it?
Agree about the beaten pack, and that's essentially the point. Heremaia was at least as ineffectual as Seymour, and as ineffectual as any half will be without space in which to work. That's exactly why I'd question Gentle if he does it again, because it should be clear now that whoever he picks out of Seymour and Heremaia will not work until he sorts the PTB out, and moving Heremaia just gives us an additional problem elsewhere. It really is a no-brainer to keep Heremaia away from the halves except in dire emergency, so I'll be worried if he can't see that. Incidentally, it's not that early, either. He's been here over a year now, with a good few months of evidence of Heremaia at both hooker and scrum half.

Not sure, but that was exactly my question when it was announced.

See what you mean, why lose out in two positions? One thing I notice is that Heremaia plays a lot closer to the line than Seymour does, I think that's how Gentle wants his seven to be. Seymour looks a broken man.
