In light of there being very few really solid rumours around and a lot of talk about renewing/buying passes I thought I'd chip in my two-peneth.

Since my first game at the Boulevard against Widnes in the 89/90 season I've been totally hooked on Hull FC and rugby league. I got my pass as soon as they went on sale and always will finances permitting. For me Hull FC is a part of my life and whilst my enjoyment is very much affected by how they do, my decision to go and watch them is not. I've seen some really poor times and some successful ones too.

For me it's not just about the matchday experience. It's Having a few beers with friends before the game, meeting up with the new friends I've made through the game, travelling away to see other places, the annual trip to Wembley, wearing my colours, the banter with other fans both at and away from games, looking out for positive news (and being disappointed) and that's just off the top of my head.

This is not about loyalty. That doesn't wash with me. It's about choice.

What does Hull FC and rugby league in general mean to you?

You've pretty much summed up my experience of being a Hull supporter/fan. I can't imagine not being at all home games and as many away games as finances will allow. From the late 80's I can count on both hands the amount of home games I have missed and a couple of those were due to the births of both my children, the eldest of which really was nearly born under the 3D stand as I was in early labour at the New Year's day fixture in 1996 yet refused to miss it!!! icon_lol.gif

I don't profess to be more of a fan than anyone else, as you have said it's about choices and if someone chooses not to replace their pass or stop attending games for whatever reason then who am I or anyone else to judge just because it's the last thing on earth I would ever consider doing.

Yes the rugby of the last few years hasn't been the most exciting in FC's history, but I've seen and sat through a hell of a lot worse and I'm sure I will do in the future!!! icon_lol.gif

100% Hull FC -part of thebrotherhood of Rugby League, The Best Game in the World to watch.:

Karen too true that we've seen better and worse, but I'm puzzled over Darkside Dave's choice of name!! Thought anyone admitting to The Darkside would have supported the Robins and not the Airlies....any clues Dave?
Regards to Howard Karen and love to bairns -are they still playing for one of the amateur clubs?.....grannyfan Cindy

I think his name is due to him living on the darkside!!

The boys are firmly in the spectator camp unfortunately Cindy although at least it means I don't have to spend hours stood on the touchlines in winter!!! icon_mrgreen.gif

i don't go to all the games because i have other interests especially on summer weekends, so i don't buy a pass. however that dosn't make me less of a fan than anybody else. being a fan of any team can often be a pointless measuring exercise to prove you are more of a fan than anyone else (even down to how many posts you have on this board!) anyone who supports hull fc is alright by me (idiots and trouble makers excepted) because at the end of the day its one less person who can support hull kr

I was listening to Radio 5 yesterday and someone mentioned that the whole Star Wars series had altered and affected every aspect of his life. He was totally devoted to Star Wars. Yes you got it a series of films which made rich men and women of the actors and directors etc, but at the end of the day was a made up story set in a fantasy land. But he has his right to love it and clearly despite some kind of mental illness he is accepted for it.

I on the other hand have worshiped at the temple of Hull FC for 34 years. 20 of those years have been while I lived here in the south. I used to dream of playing for Hull FC and now I dream of winning the Euro millions and owning them. Lets face it what you haven't had before you won't mind losing (the cash that is)

Every day I think about whats going on at the club. Every day just about I wear an item of clothing which started life in the club shop. There is certainly always a Hull shirt in the machine come wash days.

I have been told that I am sad. Invariably by people who really don't get it. They tend to be either a) Dog lovers (they know who they are. I equally dislike dogs and fail to see the attraction in being sniffed and licked by a hairy creature, but each to their own.) b) Southerners c) Rovers fans d) Football fans who think life starts and finishes with football (or Man Utd) e) Non sports fans in general.

Why I fell in love with HFC I can not really say. Surfice to say it gives me a purpose away from the main things of family and work. It has given me untold pleasure which however they try a good woman could never do (unless she too is a HFC fan) It has also given me so many emotional highs and lows that it is a drug. But most of all it has made me feel part of something which is unique. Old Faithful, friendships, arguements (in a friendly way) Rugby League the poor mans rugby apparently which is a sport that has endured despite the efforts of Union and public schools and the armed forces......etc. It is simply a way of life.

To some its sad, but just like matey boy who loves Star Wars it is a passion which will never die once you have truely been bitten by the bug. Whatever floats someones boat is fine with me provided they are not doing harm without consent. [size(Though I might add I dislike Rovers and Wire fans in equal measure) [/sizeNext season will be tough for me and probably every season here in until either a) the kids have grown up or b) they stop with bl00dy Friday nights for every game. But I understand that and have accepted it. What I will not do though is walk away and forget as I love the club, my fellow supporters and I will always be proud to say I support Hull FC in any kind of weather[size.(Though as I get older pi55y rain and cold wind is not so nice) [/size

The team you support is the one that sends you through all the emotions, highs, lows, frustration, elation, its all there.Once you get it in your blood its hard to pack it in.I can`t wait for next season, even though I know I am in for the above mentioned roller coaster ride.

If you are not part of the solution then you are more likely part of the problem...:

Have to agree with most of the posts on here, once its in your blood your hooked.Have so many good and bad memories The good times are some of the best of my life the bad only seem to make the good ones even better.I have been going for as long as I care to remember with my best mate and the pride we now feel taking our kids who are the same age and as hooked as we were, and the friends we have made over the years from the boulevard to the kc make it even more worthwhile.Heres hoping for good times in 2011 but ill still be there having a laugh or a cry.

Why do I support Hull Fc? Not to watch free flowing rugby league that’s for sure.
I have (like many others) spent absolutely thousands of pounds on watching HFC; it’s an obsession, a craving for the atmosphere and above all a desire to see ‘my team’ do well.
I’ve seen some sh*te players represent ‘my team’ and some world class players also. All these players have contributed to memories that will live with me forever. I have witnessed the highs of cup finals and league championships and also unfortunately, the lows of watching the whole club nearly going down the pan. That’s why the Agar era doesn’t faze me as much as it does others; not that I’m happy, it just doesn’t measure up to sleepless nights wondering about the future of club.

As they say in Barcelona It’s "more than a colour”

In any kind of weather cause it's where my PE teacher from Villa Place (Mr Cameron) gave me the chance to by a ticket for 1/6d in 1969.

In any kind of weather - I've followed them ever since they've made me laugh, they've certainly made me cry.

In any kind of weather -they are in my blood and now my families just as much.

In any kind of weather even - though I've cried through the pains of Wembley losses.

In any kind of weather - I've seen the best the world can offer, Norton, Sterling, kemble and Swain.

In any kind of weather even though I've witnessed players so bad, they've caused emotional pain (that rhymes!)

In any kind of weather through all the Derby's and God I hate em'.

In ant kind of weather at Thrum Hall, Crown Flatt, New Hunslet and Donny!

In any kind of weather at the best stadium - KC.

In any kind of weather - at the beloved Boulevard - even now in all it's ruin of sticks and stone.

In any kind of weather - at the start of every nervous season.

In any kind of weather - for those who have gone to the 3d Stand in the sky.

In any kind of weather -for the passion, the banter, the 'ull lads an lasses' that set us apart.

In any kind of weather - It's tattoo'd on my lads arm and in my heart.

I will be renewing next season, but I can't deny that my interest has significantly waned in recent seasons.

I'm prepared to put up with the 'lows' I sat/stood through the late 90s for example, but back then there was a reason we were rubbish, we coulden't afford it. Playing in a clapped out ground, to average gates with few other revenue streams. The move to the KC changed all that, and after a slightly jittery start in 2003...until the end of 2007 we delivered. HullFC were back at the top end of the game.

the board controversially sacked Kear, but despite a few complaints from fans, at the time most trusted and had faith in their decision. Their decision paid off and Sharp improved the side and took us to our first Grand Final.

then the wheels came off.

the Cooke saga shattered the boards reputation IMO and further scandals such as Thackray playing in the cup further damaged the reputation. Aside from a few good moments (the end to 2007 was good, as was the run to the 2008 CC final and gutsy performance in the final) its been a gradual decline back to being also-rans.

We are now in a position where the board are happy to just let the club 'tick-over' so long as it makes the top8 and the tills keep ringing then that's it for the season and the hype starts again for the next season. The rugby is boring, and we seldom win the 'big' games of importance anymore.

after decades of financial incompetence at HullFC, I am of course delighted that the club turns in a profit, and is ran well in a business manner. But sadly that does not excite the fans on the terraces, and with no relegation in SL...a season plodding around in mid-table is very dull.

the optimists would say 'ah, but we nearly made the top4 last year' but ultimately we didn't: we lost to Wire, lost to Leeds, lost to Rovers...and didn't look anywhere near getting to the grand final.

We go into next season with the same squad, all a year older, no doubt the same tactics and will generally stand still whilst other teams improve. Nothing will be done to change this, because from the board's point of the view the formula is a 'winning' one.

so yes, still a fan and always will be....but will the excitement still be there? not unless there are big changes, starting with the out of depth, unproven, head coach.
