Last season although we ended the season on a downer, we had the much-hyped arrivals of O'Meley and Fitzgibbon to look forward to as well as Long and enabling a PR offensive on shirts with a big launch, overseas players arriving early for pre season, big push to get record season pass sales. End of season fans forum could therefore concentrate on the season of promise.

Will be interesting to see how the club positions next season if there are no signings forthcoming. I'm sure Rule will, quite rightly, focus on the progression from 12th to 7th and if the 2010 financial forecast is available and showing another profit, talk about our robust off the pitch position. Agar will major on Long and Horne not being available together. I'm sure once the disappointment of being eliminated last night has worn off for most people the appetite will return, but I personally think the club need to pull a couple of rabbits out of hats to keep the fans engaged to the same extent and in the same numbers this time round. Without a big signing or two I think this will be a big challenge.

Think you are right Mrs B. This season with the signings of Long/Ogre/Fitz and the departure of a lot of the problem players we had a reason to look forward. Next season we have no big signings and look like we will be relying on Long/Horne to make us fire.

Doesn't really fill you with an overwhelming desire to go and continue watching them serve up the same rubbish week in week out in the hope they will put in a good game now and then.

Think we could well see a fall in season ticket sales next year for the 1st time.

They are for the first time in a hole of there own making and the hole was made a whole lot deeper last night. Spin has been used to great effect upto now and maybe a top signing may placate a few, but they are up againts it now. Last night opened a lot of old wounds and many will oive with this for months, Rich and the majority of his playing staff can run away to West Yorks or down under whilst the rest of us live of a diet of humble pie for months.

They may not be so keen for extra helpings next season.

I will renew my pass, I have mixed emotions right now, overall I am pleased we finished 6th in the league (was gutted we never hung on to 4th), I was gutted about our performance last night it looked like a differrent team from the Leeds game.
I feel we have not been consistent this season and feel the biggest problem lies with our h/backs we desperately need cover in this area.

Our pack is fine we desperately need backs.

Seem to remember you post this at the end of every season ? We've a long way to go yet but have come a reasonable way this season. If you're not in for the journey get off the bus.

Indeed. I guess if season tickets are down a bit next year he has to be right one time.

It's a very interesting point, Mrs B. As you say expectation was high this time last year (we had "the season of promise" to look forward to).

Unless we have a big name coming in (which looks extremely unlikely) it's hard to see us match the push on season tickets and shirts we had last year.

Mind you, I'll be getting a season ticket anyway - which probably makes me a sheep in some fans eyes icon_lol.gif

I do not think they will be down..they went up after 2 dire seasons..however disappointed we all feel right now the fact remains we have improved significantly, still a lot of work to be done. People will get over yesterday and come February we will up for it all again icon_eek.gif icon_lol.gif

I hope you're right. I've heard all the same crap in the last 3 years from some on here about falling gates and sponsors leaving in their droves meanwhile the club goes from strength to strength in all aspects both financially and in its community work. On the field is a way off where we want it but moving in the right direction.

I for one will be getting my season tickets next year - if for no other reason than paying full price last night was a serious shock to the system icon_eek.gif icon_biggrin.gif

I didn't get a season ticket for this year, enough was enough for me last time round. Me and my Dad spoke about it on the way to the ground last night, considering whether or not we'd be coming back for one for next season. He was leaning towards yes, I still thought no, we're still too tedious to watch I'd prefer the option of missing some games without being out of pocket anyway. He seemed to have changed his stance a little on the way back.
